What is Jelly?
“Jelly” is a non-exclusive term that can actually cover a few different materials including silicone, TPR/TPE (soft plastic), PVC, and jelly rubber. Silicone is a body-safe material used in everything from the best sex dolls to the softest vibrator. It’s non-porous, which means it’s easy to clean and can be completely sterilized between uses. TPR, TPE, and PVC are non-body-safe materials, at least in the sense that they can’t be sterilized. Does that mean you shouldn’t use them? Not necessarily, but you’d be much better off using a non-porous toy than a porous toy full of tiny holes for bacteria to hide in! Traditional jelly rubber is not body safe, as it is both porous and toxic, so we would recommend going for a soft silicone option. At a bare minimum, avoid any materials that are not labeled as “phthalate-free.”
Are Jelly Dildos Worth It?
Dildo safety isn’t something that really comes up too often, but it’s still a topic worth talking about. Are jelly dildos worth it? Well, that depends on what your definition of “jelly” is. If you’re talking about the cheap, see-through dildos made from TPE, PVC, and other porous materials, then no, jelly dildos aren’t worth it. What is a Double Density Dildo?

How to Clean a Jelly Dildo

Therefore, it is recommended that you use a condom with these types of toys, especially if you are sharing them. Clean these toys with mild soapy water and dry gently with a towel. These materials are more easily damaged, so be sure to be gentle and make sure your toys are completely dry before storing.
