Personal Experience
The Bathmate Hydro7 is a very basic pump. As such, using it was a very straightforward experience. This simplicity does have a few downfalls. However, overall, I think it’s the best option for those on a budget, and also a great choice for those who are buying a penis pump for the first time.
First Impressions
The pump’s actual packaging comes concealed within a plain white box, inside of another box. This is great in terms of privacy. Looking at the outside of the box gives you a general idea of the potential benefits of using the pump, and specifically mentions that it’s “designed to be used in water”. Aside from the pump, the box also contains a packet of “Jelqing Enhancement Serum”, a recycling & regulatory information slip, a jelqing workout guide, and the Hydro user guide. Both the jelqing and the Hydro guides provide instructions, complete with pictures to help you start off on the right page. Looking at the thing, it looks fairly basic. Essentially, it is a long clear plastic tube. One end features foam padding, and the other features an end cap. Above the foam but below the clear tube sits the black bellows, which allow the toy to be compressed while also applying outwards pressure.Using the Pump
I know it says it’s designed to be used in water, but I figured I would try it “on land” first. This was not a fruitful endeavor. Being the weakest of the Bathmate toys, this pump simply doesn’t have enough power to be effective without water. That said, I still think it’s worth trying this way before using it in the shower, as it gives you time to get familiar with how the device works. Using it in the shower yeilded much more promising results. Despite poor “land” performance, the Bathmate Hydro7 actually offers a decent amount of suction once you fill it up with water. Having to hold the end closed is a bit annoying, but it’s not a deal breaker as the process only takes a few moment. Once filled up, I put the thing in place, compressed it, and loosened my grip. As expected, water shot out of the end and there was a decent amount of suction applied. You get the most suction within the first few pumps. After that, the Bathmate Hydro7 doesn’t really have much more to give. I think this is great if you’re worried about injuring your penis, as there’s basically no way to do this: it’s not strong enough. Even maximizing the pressure on this was more than comfortable enough. To remove it, simply push on the end to release the pressure. Simple and sweet, this was a good introductory item.Design
The design is very plain. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but visual appeal is definitely not the Bathmate Hydro7's strong point. The end features foam padding that gets pressed up against your body, which looks somewhat cheap. That said, I did find this to be the most comfortable! The clear tube gives you an excellent view, although you can also purchase colored versions as well. There's even a "ruler" sticker on the side of the tube. Personally, I wouldn't really depend on this, as the "measurement" will change depending on how much the bellows are compacted.
Ease of Use
Being designed for beginners, you'd expect the Bathmate Hydro7 to be easy to use. It definitely doesn't disappoint. Essentially, you just fill the tube up with water, stick your penis inside, and press the tube against your body to build pressure/suction. There isn't much more to it than than. You could probably get away using this device with one hand, but two will definitely make it easier. The only real learning curve is figuring out how to open and close the cap, but this is explained in the directions. For more detailed instruction, Bathmate also has a few videos you can watch.
Quality
The vast majority of the Bathmate Hydro7 feels high-quality. The plastics of the main body and bellows are perfectly made, with no noticeable blemishes to speak of. I suppose I could knock off a few points for the "ruler" being sticker. However, I don't really think that matters much, as it's functionally useless anyway. The only thing that really stands out as "cheap" is the padding on the end. It's simple foam, which appears to be glued in place. I would imagine that this will be the first part of the device to fail.
Price
Personally, I would argue that the vast majority of penis pumps are overpriced. However, compared to the competiiton, the Bathmate Hydro7 is a very reasonable offering. You don't get much beyond the pump itself, but this is a device that should serve you well for quite a while. It would've been nice to get a carrying case with this one, though. Or, at the very least, a simple bag. The Bathmate Hydro7 doesn't come with any type of storage solution, leaving discrete storage up to the owner. On the plus side, you do get the jelquing guide and the packet of "Jelqing Enhancement Serum"!
Performance
I would say the Bathmate Hydro7 lived up to my expectations. While pretty much every pump out there claims that you'll gain a lot of length by using their product, I mainly judged this toy on its suction, ease of use, and comfort levels. Considering the toy was able to induce an erection nearly instantly, I would count that as a win in my book. Being the weaker model could definitely be considered a downside. However, I think this is a plus, as the risk of accidental injury is nearly non-existent with the Bathmate Hydro7.
Packaging
The Bathmate Hydro7's box is primarily black with white lettering and yellow highlights. It features a drawn version of the pump on the front. One size gives you a "ruler" along with the required erection sizes, and the other provides a few of the product's highlights. The back features a simple summary of the product in nine different languages, which could be useful in some cases. All in all, I think the major takeaway from the packaging is the 2-year warranty, which might come in useful if the foam end starts to come undone.
Materials and care
Being primarily made of plastic, the Bathmate Hydro7 is a fairly light item. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's non-porous (as not all plastics are), but this shouldn't pose as issue as the toy isn't made for internal use anyway. Every part is completely waterproof, making it extremely easy to care for. As mentioned, it doesn't come with a storage bag/box, so that's something you'll have to figure out on your own. Cleaning it only requires a bit of soap and water to get the job done. Overall, it feels fairly well made, although the comfortable foam on the end is definitely a place where the company cheaped out a bit on their more affordable model.
