Fleshlight Renewing Powder: Is it just cornstarch? Should you use it for your Fleshlight?

So, this is a hot topic!

Is this $10 “magical” Fleshlight Renewing Powder really just repackaged cornstarch?

And is it even necessary for you to use for your Fleshlight?

We will get to the bottom of this!

Add renewal powder

Having purchased and experimented with over 29 different Fleshlight toys I will give you answers to both questions!

Review of Fleshlights complete test

Yeah, I know, maybe a bit overkill with 29.

But heck, it does make me the perfect trusted partner on any questions related to Fleshlight products.

Let me just say, the 29 Fleshlights (30 if you count my old STU in the corner) is not the only Fleshlight products I’ve purchased.

I’ve also purchased the Fleshlight Renewing Powder!

And I have some secrets to spill…

Fleshlight Renewing Powder is 100% cornstarch

I was just about to write, that Fleshlight do not even try to hide, that their Fleshlight Renewing Powder is just cornstarch.

It even says so on the can (see the image below).

But, then I got curious. Why are people asking whether or not it really is just cornstarch?

If it is visible from the can itself, Fleshlight isn’t hiding it for you guys.

So, being the natural born investigator I am, I went on the Fleshlight.com website for a quick inspection.

And…

Are you kidding me?!

They don’t have the information anywhere, that their Fleshlight Powder is just cornstarch!

Fleshlight Renewing powder description

They even disregarded taking pictures of the backside of the can.

This is just suspecion, but maybe there is a reason for that.

They don’t want people to know, that they are just selling repackaged Cornstarch. Because then, you could just buy it cheaper in your local supermarket.

Don’t get me wrong. I have no issue with different companies selling cornstarch for specific purposes.

That is just part of branding.

And, I am actually also fine with the fact that they call it something else.

I do, however, feel strongly that they should disclaim it visibly on the website.

Is the Fleshlight Renewing powder better than normal cornstarch?

Another thought hit my mind. Maybe they have found a specific type of manufactured cornstarch that works better than ‘normal’ cornstarch does.

Having used both – and now transitioned 100% to normal cornstarch (feels wierd to have to write “normal”) I can honestly say:

  • I don’t feel a difference
  • I don’t see a difference
  • I haven’t noticed it drying quicker or faster using one or the other.

In conclusion, just use normal cornstarch from either Maizena, Argo, or Quaker and save yourself the few extra bucks.

But what about the smart can?

Well, I get it, the small holes in the top and the added lit makes it easy to dispense the correct amount.

But a simple solution is just to use a toothpick or something else that is sharp to punch a few holes in the lid of the cornstarch. There you go, and easy homemade Fleshlight Renewing Powder can.

I guess, one reason to use the specific Fleshlight Powder could also be, that you are simply wierded out by using something from the kitchen on your Fleshlight. I get that, and if that’s the case, you can just buy it once and then maybe restock the same can with normal cornstarch afterwards. Or simply put it in a different container from the beginning.

Reasons for why you should use cornstarch (or Fleshlight Renewing Powder):

From the heading you might have guess, that I beleive it is a really good idea to use either cornstarch or the “magical” Fleshlight Renewing Powder.

And, there a quite a few good reasons for it:

  • It will increase the Lifetime of your Fleshlight
  • It will make it feel and look like new again
  • It will prevent it feeling sticky
  • It will make it feel smooth
  • It will prevent lent and other debris from sticking
  • It dries the Fleshlight and prevents mold (read our Fleshlight drying guide here)
