Fun Factory Volta Review
My Verdict
The Fun Factory Volta is a versatile toy that offers vibrating stimulation to various parts of bodies, not just the clitoris. Overall, I think the concept of this toy is great, but its performance and confusing navigation system made it stop short of excellence for me.

About The Fun Factory Volta
The Fun Factory Volta is a silicone, rechargeable vibrator composed of two vibrating tips which flutter together to simulate the sensation of oral sex or tongues. The Volta is a gender-neutral, versatile toy that can be used on the clitoris, vulva, nipples, penis, testicles, or any other body part so it is a good toy for experimentation with self or partners. The Volta is completely waterproof, includes a travel lock feature, and offers 6 vibration speeds and 6 vibration rhythms.

Personal Experience
When I first saw the Fun Factory Volta advertised I was intrigued by its advertisement as a vibrator that is so versatile, gender-neutral, and can be used on more body parts than just the vulva. I’ve also been searching for a vibrator that can easily be used during partnered penetrative sex and was happy to learn the Volta is advertised to meet this need. Upon receiving the order in the mail, the Volta itself still seemed promising, unique and high-quality in its box. My Volta is part of the limited edition ‘Jewels’ collection, which came with some glitzy but perhaps excessive packaging. Once I touched the toy itself I learned that the silicone on this toy is not what I am used to in my other silicone toys. Lint, hair, and other shmutz easily stick to this toy, and when I attempted to rub it off, it actually smeared onto the toy and clung on. I found this frankly gross as sexual hygiene is super important to me, though this could be fixed by giving it a clean before use.
Trying Out the Volta
When I first tried out the toy, I lubed up and then centered my clitoris between the ‘tongues.’ I easily turned the toy on by pressing and holding the “FUN” button (I appreciated how large the buttons are). The toy automatically defaults to a medium speed, but I prefer max speed during clitoral masturbation so I proceeded to press the (+) button numerous times. This is when I was super disappointed in this toy. After pressing the (+) button more than 3 times, the Volta transitions back to a medium speed and begins to cycle through the various vibration patterns. I personally don’t like vibration patterns, so I continued to press the (+) button, expecting it to eventually return to a steady vibration, but it perpetually cycled through the vibration patterns. I eventually had to pause my play to re-read the instructions manual which totally killed my vibe (pun intended!). I learned that to exit the vibration patterns one must press the (-) button which to me is just simply not intuitive. I don’t believe this toy is easy to navigate, and that is something I value in a vibrator since I typically need to decrease the vibration speed quickly during climax. Even after better understanding (but never mastering) how the navigation buttons work, I didn’t find this vibrator pleasurable on my clitoris or vulva when utilizing the tongues. I eventually settled on using the base of the Volta as a wand and reached orgasm that way.An All-Over Toy
I then moved on to trying the Volta on my nipples, which I really enjoyed. During partnered penetrative sex, I didn’t find this toy particularly useful for the same reasons listed above – it is difficult to navigate and the actual sensations provided by the vibrating ‘tongues’ don’t provide me with pleasure. I could potentially see how this toy might be more pleasurable for folks who have larger clitorises, transmasculine people who have testosterone-enhanced genitals, or those with penises, since the tips of the toy just didn’t seem to land for my average-to-above-average-sized clitoris. I see value in any and all gender-neutral toys for the fact that they are less common, and gender-expansive people and/or people in queer relationships can really benefit from the toy’s versatility. However, this toy just did not work for what I wanted it to do.Design
At first glance, the Fun Factory Volta presents as high quality, unique, and compact. It is made of non-porous, hypoallergenic silicone and looks smooth to the touch. It is very bendable and shaped in a way that makes it easy to hold onto. The buttons are raised which is useful for navigating them during use. However, upon touching the toy's silicone, I noticed that it felt rough and it was easy it is for hair, dust, and lint to stick and smear onto the toy.
Ease of Use
The Fun Factory Volta's small loop handle allows for an easy grip on this toy while in a variety of positions, even while lubed up. This can be useful for some but potentially unhelpful for others with wrist pain who prefer a longer handle. Additionally, navigating the vibration speeds and patterns using the toy's buttons is particularly difficult. There are 3 buttons featured on the toy's handle: (+), (-), and "FUN" (to turn on/off). Because there aren't separate buttons for vibration speed and rhythm, when one clicks the (+) button more than 3 times, the toy shifts into the different vibration patterns and you cannot return to a steady vibration rhythm unless you click the (-) button, which to me is outright confusing. You also cannot control the vibration speed when in the differing pattern modes, as it defaults to medium speed which may not work for all folks. This is really annoying for people who require easy navigation in the heat of the moment!
Quality
The Fun Factory Volta — although confusing to navigate — seems to be a reliably-made toy. The silicone 'tongues' are extremely bendable and thick, which leaves me to believe this toy will be long-lasting. However, the silicone material made me a bit uneasy due to how easy it is for dust, hair, etc to cling to it. In terms of its functionality, the quality of the Volta's vibrations are high and this small toy can pack a strong punch while not getting too loud.
Price
Unless investing in this toy for its versatility, I don't think it is worth its price tag of ~$140. This is quite costly for a vibrator that to me does not simulate oral sex well, and works better as a nipple or penis stimulator, or a makeshift wand for one's vulva.
Performance
The Fun Factory Volta is known for its promise to provide "epic, earth-shattering clit vibration" that simulates oral sex with the use of its two 'tongues'. In fact, I think Volta's prime feature is its versatility which allows it to be used on different body parts such as nipples, penises, testicles, labia, vaginas, and clitorises — and therefore between partners with varying body parts. In my experience, this toy sadly does not live up to its expectation of simulating tongues at all, and using it on the clitoris is either too intense for someone like me who doesn't enjoy direct clitoral stimulation due to oversensitivity (when used vertically), or not nearly intense enough if used horizontally. The Volta does provide quite pleasurable simulation to the nipples and penis, and its vibrations did feel good when used more as a clitoris/vulva wand rather than how the toy is advertised to be used on the clit. Perhaps this toy would be more pleasurable on a penis or a transmasculine person's testosterone-enhanced genitals to be used as a stroker, but I cannot speak to that experience.
Packaging
The packaging of my Fun Factory Volta is cute, though perhaps excessive. I received a special edition 'Jewels' Volta, and when I opened the shipping box, I was met with a large amount of metallic confetti and plastic diamonds. Through an eco-friendly lens, this felt wasteful, although I could understand the appeal for folks who want their experience with purchasing a sex toy to be exciting (on brand with *Fun* Factory). The box that held the Volta was nice because it has a "I'd like to try/Yes, No, Maybe" game written on the reverse side of the cardboard slip.
Materials and care
The Fun Factory Volta is 100% waterproof and therefore able to be submerged under water for play in a shower, bath, or hot tub. It is made of thick, bendable, non-porous, hypoallergenic silicone which can easily be cleaned with a sex toy cleaning product or warm water and unscented soap. I do believe the silicone on this product, while high-quality, is a bit annoying, since it collects lint so easily. It is a smaller toy but does not come with a storage bag, though you can buy one from Fun Factory's website. It also comes with a creative pamphlet to follow for a "Flirt or Dare" sex game.
