Compared to other fetishes – How common is a fetish for public sex?

In this study we have looked at “public sex” not as a fetish linked to the counterpart of voyeurism – exhibitionism. Rather, this study simply looks at the fetish/kink of people who would like the adventure, excitement of the potential/risk of someone seeing them.

In most studies that ranked fetishes comparatively, they looked at the very specific hardcore voyeurism or exhibitionism kinks. We do not in this ranking.

Ranked from 1 to 10 the most common fetishes are:

  1. Public sex fetish
  2. Foot fetish

Dogging vs. exhibitionism vs. sex in public

Dogging refers to the act of engaging in sexual activity in a public place, typically a car park or other secluded outdoor location, while other people watch. It often involves strangers meeting through online forums or social media and arranging to meet up for the purpose of watching or engaging in sexual activity in a public place.

Exhibitionism, on the other hand, is the act of exposing one’s genitals in public, typically for sexual arousal or gratification. This can include flashing, or intentionally exposing oneself to others, as well as other forms of indecent exposure.

Sex in public refers to the act of engaging in sexual activity in a public place, without necessarily involving others watching or participating. This could include having sex in a park or on a beach, for example.

While all three of these terms involve some form of sexual activity or indecent exposure in a public place, they each have different nuances and legal implications.
