Joyboxx + Playtray Sex Toy Storage Box Review

Personal Experience

A box of mischief and naughtiness, that shouldn’t be opened and explored by the wrong person… unless you want them to! I have always been a pretty secretive person, and don’t like people snooping around my things, so when I got my hands on the Joyboxx storage box, all my anxiety had disappeared. The Joyboxx storage box and Playtray is a great addiction to my sex toy collection, heck, it houses the collection! Storing all my toy sin one place is great for tidiness and selection – It’s now like Pick & Mix every time I want to have some fun. Sometimes, I close my eyes, have a quick rummage and let fate choose for me. As someone who has also moved apartment 4 times already this year (don’t ask…) it is a great way to transport all my goodies, without them falling out of a random box and that being the first impression my new roommate gets of me (yes, unfortunately that has happened…)

Design

I really liked the design of the box - it is simple and aesthetically pleasing. I really liked the white colour, as it looks clean and higher quality. Some could think it looks medical or clinical, and that it might get dirty. I am planning to store this under my bed away from sight but also accessible - I can only imagine that it is going to get dusty from time to time, of which I will then just wipe it clean. On first impression, I think it looks good quality, not the best but not the worst I have ever seen - there is only so much I can say about a storage box, it really just is a box. I like the shape with the curved edges and hidden extra storage space in the lid, as this box definitely doesn't scrimp on storage space. The slide to lock the lid feels a little cheap, but it doesn't feel weak enough that it will snap or break off.

Ease of Use

This storage box is very easy to use and I only had to read the instructions when it came to learning how to use the padlock. The box is very self explanatory - slide the lock either left or right to open, and take out the storage divider if you want to make more space. The storage divider can be fully removed, to be used as a drying rack, which is great as sometimes I don't know where to put my drying toys. I have predominantly used it as a box divider, to separate my toys. Unfortunately, it doesn't completely separate the toys into different compartments, and I would have perhaps liked different storage areas in the box, that I can change around and move. This would have been better for separating charging cables, small toys and larger toys, but thats just me being picky.

Quality

For this price, I think the quality is pretty reasonable. At first, all I thought you were paying for was a box. But then after realising you got a lock, a divider and a box that allowed charging while the toys were inside the box, the price became less scary. Sure, I would have liked a box that was made of a more premium material, like a metal case or was lined with velvet, but then I would most likely be paying a higher price. The middle divider was thick and made of good plastic that didn't feel like it would snap. When the box was also locked, it certainly wouldn't be easy to break to force entry. The overall finish of the box is good quality and smooth - the edges are curved and the plastic is soft. The product has decent weight to it and doesn't feel thin and cheap. I think the quality is pretty great!

Price

I have been umming and ahhing about whether or not I think the price of this toy is reasonable or not. Looking at it from positive perspective, it is a great storage box that really offers a lot of storage space - including even more space in the lid. It comes with a lock, so I didn't have to spend more money on buying a lock. It's like when a battery powered vibrators arrives without the batteries... why? It is also made of hick plastic that I don't think would easily break and is of decent quality. The divider/drying rack is also a great feature that is a nice touch and if it wasn't included, I think I would want it. On the other hand, it is just a storage box, and $50 for a box is a little steep. What is stopping me from putting my toys in a box and just hiding it better instead of a locked box? I think if it is important to you to have you toys in a locked box that is of good quality, then it is a great storage box. But $20 cheaper and it would 100% be in my basket, but at the current price, it is only 60% in my basket.

Performance

How do I explain the performance of a storage box, without making it sound like just a storage box... I am not going to sugar coat things, there is only so much I can say! But in terms of how well it does its job, 10/10. The lid opens easily, the box holds a lots of toys, the extra storage in the lid is a great addiction and the lock works very well. The storage divider is great but the company confused me slightly; in the manual, it says that it can be used for multiple purposes, like putting your toothbrush on in the bathroom! For me, I will only be using it as a sex toy storage box, but it made of FDA food grade PP if you did want to use it for something else. The only downfall it has is that where there is nothing in the box, it tips over with the weight of the lid, but now I am just being anal! The hole at the back of the box was something that confused me at first; thinking it was potentially a hole that I can put a screw through, in order to hang the box on the wall? While you can still do this if you wanted, it is a charging hole so that you can charge the toys while they are locked in the box. While I think this is a clever idea and a nice touch, it depends on how strong the charger is, especially if it is magnetic, because on some occasions I have opened the box and the charger has come off the toy!

Packaging

The packaging is pretty basic, but I don't think it needs to be anything more. The design on the front is easy to read and quickly outlines some of the boxs' special features. I like all the colours and information given; I didn't have to go onto the website to look up all the features that the storage box offered. As an environment lover, I didn't like seeing a plastic bag wrapped around the box - but I do understand that it is for hygiene reasons. Personally, I would have liked the storage box to come in a cardboard box, that can be fully recycled. But the actual packaging it came it was easy to read and had great, colourful pictures on all sides. The under side of the cardboard sleeve outlines all the features of the storage box, which is great for knowing which ingredients were avoided when making this product.

Materials and care

The Joyboxx storage box is BPA free, uses non-toxic materials, has no Bisphenol-A or Phthalates. It is 100% recyclable and eco-friendly, so when you are eventually done using it, it can be recycled! Woohoo! It is dishwasher safe, which is great for me as I am someone who hates cleaning or washing up. The packaging is a cardboard sleeve and a plastic bag, both of which don't specify if they can be recycled. The lock is made of metal and despite being small, it is pretty strong. I don't think anyone is breaking into that box anytime soon. I must say, the first time I used the lock, it was very hard to turn the numbers from 000 to my desired number - after using some finger-grease, they moved and now move easily with every turn. Maybe it was just tough for the first go?

Special feature

The Joyboxx storage box is a sex toy storage box, among other things, that can be padlocked close. It comes with a 3-number code that can be personalised to your own number combination, and fully locks when another combination code is entered. It is a great feature to have, especially if you have sex toys locked in the box and don’t want unwanted eyes peaking your collection. I love this feature, it makes the storage box worth having.
