Pjur Back Door Water-Based Anal Glide Lube Review
My Verdict
I have always had this idea in my head that silicone lubes were thicker than water-based lubes, so when I see a water-based anal lube, I automatically think they are not that thick. Pjur always proves me wrong, with their high quality products that work amazingly. This Pjur back door water-based anal lube is a thick sexual lubricant, that is long lasting. Despite going slightly tacky the longer you use it, and the packaging being a slightly tacky design, in my opinion, it is a great lube to have stocked up. I have already reviewed a Pour back door water-based lube, and despite them both being very similar, this is a much thicker version, that is supposedly “extra moisturising”.

About The Pjur Back Door Water-Based Anal Glide Lube
The Pjur Back Door water-based anal lube, that is supposedly extra moisturising and nouirisigihin. It claims to contain Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found int eh body that helps retain moisture. It is often found din beauty products like moisturisers, and keeps the area hydrated. This is great to have in a lube that is designed for anal, as it is an area that doesn’t self-lubricate. The bottle is a tall plastic tube, with a screw lid, that has a small opening where the lube can come out in controlled amounts. This lube has a pH balance of 6, which is slightly acidic, as well as being FDA approved, like all Pjur lubes.
Pros
- ✅Thick enough to be comfortable for anal sex

Cons
- ❌More expensive than the lube that is very similar to it - the pjur back door anal glide
- ❌Can only really be used for anal - too thick for other sex
- ❌Can become tacky after a while

Design
I have seen this design before on the other ‘back door’ lubes, with the cheeky butt design on the front. Even though it is cheeky and fun, I can’t help but think it looks quite tacky. Within the sex toy industry, there is a range of different packaging designs - from very premium to cheap and sleezy - I wouldn’t say it is the worst but I have soemtimes found myself hiding the bottle after using the product inside. I am someone who likes a bottle I can leave on my bedside table and not be embarrassed about. Another note, this lube is very similar to the Pjur Back Door anal glide. Yes, that bottle is green and this bottle is blue, but it took me a moment to realise the difference between the two lubes?
Ease of Use
As I mentioned, this lube is very thick, but it is water based. As someone who is prone to bacterial growth, I tend to avoid lubes that have glycerin in them. Unfortunately, this lube has glycerin in it - It is not a cause for huge concern as it is an anal lube, otherwise it is an ingredient i try to avoid. I also have a funny thing about FDA approved lubes - I really like it when it is FDA approved as it again, puts my mind at ease that it is body safe. It doesn’t really matter with this lube, as it is not flavoured or going to be used for oral, but it is still something I appreciate.
Quality
The pH of this lube is 6, meaning that it is slightly acidic. I would prefer a more neutral lube as it is only suppose to be used near the anus. However, it is good for vulva owners, as the natural pH of a vulva is slightly acidic. Compared to the Pjur back door anal glide, which contains Panthenol, also known as Vitamin B5 - a common ingredient in a wide array of skin care - the two lubes are very similar in their ingredients. I think it all depends on what type of lube you like - a thinner, more watery anal lube, or a thicker, more cushioning anal lube. Otherwise, the ingredients and quality of the product itself, is great. I have always been a fan of Pjur lubes, as they take pride in what they are putting in their products.
Price
As I am sure you have been exposed to before; a lot of brands use a lot of fancy advertising and persuasive language to sell you different products. The fact that this lube is packaged and designed very similarly to the pour glide, makes me think about whether or not Pjur are just trying to make as much money as possible, by making as many similar products as possible. The price of this lube is pretty expensive, for something that is simply a water-based anal lube.
Performance
I have expressed before that I am not much of a thick lube lover, but when it comes to anal lubes, the thicker the better. I want my anal lube thick and cushioning, as it makes anal sex more enjoyable and comfortable. This lube is certainly one of the thickest that Pjur sell, maybe even one of the top 5 thickest I have tried! It feels smooth and cushioning on the skin, but not too sticky. After a while it does need some re-application, to bring back its wetness, but a little goes a long way with this lubricant.
Compatibility
I love knowing that the products I buy are fully body safe and haven’t been tampered with, and as this lube came sealed in plastic, my mind was certainly put at ease. For something to be going near or in my body, I want to know that it has not ben opened before. Then again, I would still prefer a more environmentally friendly alternative instead - paper wrapping and a cardboard tube would be a lot better than all the plastic that was used! Maybe I’ll with to Pjur… I would also much prefer a click-close or pump lid instead, as for me they are a lot easier to use, especially when my hands have lube on them. These screw lids that Pjur use are a lot of energy, as sometimes kill the mood when you are struggling to open the bottle!
Stain Test
This lube doesn’t stain bed sheets or the skin, and leaves no lasting colouring. It can easily be washed off using soap and water. I would recommend washing clothes and bedsheets after every use.
