A growing interest for adult stores
Physical stores of all kinds have taken a real hit with the global pandemic, with COVID-19 dominating all areas of our lives. It’s no surprise that this also affected sex toy stores.
The chart shows the waning Google searches for terms related to ‘adult shop’ as the pandemic started to take hold in the U.S. in February and March 2020.
You can see a significant drop in searches for adult stores in March 2020, shortly after Trump declared a COVID- 19 a National Emergency.
There was a spike in interest in February 2021, which we can only guess is related to Valentine’s Day.
Luckily, things look set to get back on track and maybe even increase compared to previous periods.
While it is has been a tough time for physical stores, the sex toy industry has seems to be flourishing, with sales increasing in many different countries, including the US.
