My Verdict
I think the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar is a great option for beginners who are curious about trying a spreader bar. The 20-inch bar is a good size for less intense spreading, and the velcro cuffs are easy to use and easy to adjust to your ankle or wrist size. Since the cuffs are removable, beginners will also be able to enjoy these as separate BDSM accessory and use them in other scenarios. The faux fur lining is also very comfortable! However, the spreader bar itself doesn't seem like it would hold up to more heavy-duty action. The fabric doesn't seem as long-lasting as metal or leather, for example, and the quality is just not what I would expect for more advanced level spreader bar shenanigans.

Personal Experience
Spread ‘Em!
When I first received the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar, I was surprised to see how short it was. I somehow expected something longer that would hold my legs far wider apart. For someone like me with larger thighs, I couldn’t really see how those 20 inches would be enough to spread my legs apart for full access. Luckily, with some creative positioning and experimenting, my partner and figured out that it worked really well! It especially helped enhance sensations and comfort during the “Open Pincer” position if my knees were slightly bent. It’s never been easier to be folded like a piece of paper… Still, I would love to try an expandable spreader that offered a bit more length for other kinds of positions.Not For Advanced Play
While we were using it, I very quickly noticed that the velcro would give up if I actually tried to escape the cuffs. It stayed pretty securely in place during our first try but I know it would not withstand a more vigorous bondage session in our bedroom. While the cuffs are very comfortable, thanks to the faux fur lining, they’re also fairly thin. So, the design of the cuffs, the velcro fastening, and the length of the spreader bar all seems to be made for beginners. It’s fun to play with but easy to escape if necessary. For my partner and I, who are more experienced with BDSM, could have used something designed for more heavy-duty bondage. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed using it and would definitely recommend it friends who are curious about spreader bars.Design
While I did feel like the Black Rose design was a bit tacky at first, I actually quite it! The glitter is really cute, especially when you shine some light on it. The floral design is also much more subtle than I thought it would be, and I like that. The bar itself is pretty short. While it still got the job done, it's not ideal for people like me with larger thighs that might require more length to spread the legs sufficiently apart.
Ease of Use
The Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar is very easy to use. The cuffs clip on with a lobster/mini carabiner clip on each end of the bar. Since they're removable, they're so perfect for beginners who want to use the cuffs separately. The faux fur lined interior is also super soft and comfy!
Quality
I wouldn't call the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar a high quality item. One of the clips was a bit finicky, and some of the thread from the seams was shedding a bit at first. As far as the material goes, I don’t see this being a very long lasting spreader bar. It seems like that fabric would deteriorate over time and it’s difficult to keep clean since wiping it down could regularly could make it deteriorate faster.
Price
At $60, I think the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar is overpriced. If the materials were long-lasting and it seemed like something that wouldn't deteriorate easily over time, the price would be fair. Still, for complete beginners who maybe don't have any bondage gear at home, this one included a set of comfortable ankle or wrist cuffs that can be used independently of the spreader bar.
Performance
While the length of the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar didn't live up to my expectations, it still was super fun to use. It won’t hold up for heavy duty bondage but it's great for those who just want to try a spreader bar to see if they like it!

The packaging for the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar was very simple. It came disassembled in a clear plastic bag with a Bondage Boutique Tag on one of the cuffs.
Materials and care
The Lovehoney website doesn't actually specify which materials the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Spreader Bar is made of other than 'faux fur' which isn't specified in terms of materials either. I can tell that the Black Rose design is definitely made of some of kind of synthetic fabric, the clips are made of nickle-free metal. The mystery material on the interior of the bar itself is very firm but also very light. I suspect there's either ABS plastic or a metal tube in there. Since everything is wrapped in that fabric, the spreader isn't easy to clean. You can wipe it down with a damp cloth if necessary but it does seem like this can make it deteriorate faster. My conclusion is that maintenance was not thought through with this design.
