How to Make a DIY Penis Pump

How to make 3 different types of homemade penis pumps from things you may have around the house.

DIY Penis Pump

Making your own DIY penis pump is relatively easy and can be done with items you have around the house. For example, if you have a 16.9-ounce soda bottle, a large water bottle, plastic tubing and a brake bleeding kit or aquarium siphon, you are already most of the way there. So, if you want to make a homemade penis pump, read on for 3 easy, step-by-step tutorials.

But first, if you’d like to read more about penis pumps and how to use one correctly, all of that information is available directly after my 3 tutorials.

We’ve also put a post together featuring the best penis pumps available

Let’s get started!

DIY Penis Pump 1

DIY penis pump; photo showing a water bottle, drill, silicone sealant, plastic tubing and a automitive hand pump.
Just some of the supplies needed to make a DIY penis pump

To create this penis pump, you will need the following supplies:

Supply List

  • Clear water bottle with lid
  • Hand held vacuum pump for automotive uses (like this one)
  • Plastic tubing
  • Silicone (or another leak proof) sealant
  • Drill
  • Thick sponge
  • Strong duct tape (like Gorilla or Flex Tape)

Tips: When searching for a vessel to create your penis pump, use any plastic container, cylinder or bottle that most close fits your penis size. Water bottles and plastic storage containers are food-grade and therefore, body-safe. Also, if you are modestly endowed, the plastic cylinder that comes in the brake bleeding kit is perfect for your DIY penis pump.

When choosing a pump, you can use various types from hardware, automotive, blood pressure bulbs and breast pumps. If it pulls air out and can be attached to, or comes with, plastic tubing, it will work for this project.

Instructions

Step 1: Drill a hole in the bottom of the water bottle that is the same size as the plastic tubing. Tip: Find the right size drill bit by placing each bit into the end of the tubing. Once you find the bit that fits snugly, go to the next size up.

Step 2: Grab your thick sponge. Flip the water bottle over and trace the opening onto the sponge. Sit the sponge aside as you will work on that while the sealant is drying.

Step 3: Take the end of the plastic tubing and coat the outside 1/4 inch with clear sealant.

Step 4: Place the end of the tubing into the hole that you drilled in the bottom of the water bottle. It should fit snugly. Then, add some sealant to the area where the tubing goes in to create an airtight seal.

Step 5: Lay the water bottle on its side and prop the plastic tubing up so it seals into the hole straight. Allow to dry according to the directions on your choice of sealant.

Step 6: Return to the sponge you traced earlier. Using scissors, cut out the center just outside the circle drawn earlier.

Step 7: Using scissors, cut the center out of the sponge, creating a donut shape. Be sure and leave a thick ring as this will pad the opening of the penis pump.

This is how the sponge piece should look.

DIY penis pump instructions; photo of step 8 showing a strip of sponge and scissors.
Step 8: Slide the circular piece of sponge over the mouth of the water bottle. Or, if it’s too tight a fit, cut the circle in one spot to create a strip of sponge.

Step 9: Place the piece of sponge around the mouth of the water bottle making sure that there is enough sponge to fold over on each side. Next, cut a strip of strong, duct type tape. I used a popular infomercial brand that will not come loose easily.

DIY penis pump; photo of step 10 showing the sponge being taped down around the mouth of the water bottle.
Step 10: Pull the ends of the sponge together and tape the sponge ring down in one spot. Be sure and fold the sponge over the rim of the water bottle as you apply the tape. Smooth the tape out on both the inside and the outside of the bottle.

DIY penis pump; photo of step 11 showing the sponge being taped down around the mouth of the water bottle.
Step 11: Continue applying strips of tape around the bottle making sure the they overlap and are sealed firmly against each other, the inside and the outside of the water bottle.

DIY penis pump; photo of the opening of the water bottle after all of the tape has been applied over top the sponge.
It should look something like this when finished. Tip: You can place a single strip of tape along the top to create a firmer seal on the tape. Yeah, it’s not pretty, but it works!

Step 12: Slide the other end of the tubing onto the automotive hand pump. Now, your DIY penis pump is ready to use. Tip: If you have a difficult time creating suction, check that the hole you drilled is sealed and also that you are pressing the opening of the pump firmly against your body to create an adequate seal.

DIY Penis Pump 2

Homemade penis pump tutorial; photo of a small soda bottle, drill, silicone sealant, aquarium siphon and serrated knife.
Here are the supplies needed to create a homemade penis pump.

This home-made penis pump is a bit easier and extremely inexpensive. Here’s what you’ll need:

Supply List

  • 16.9 oz soda bottle
  • Siphon and tubing for fish tanks (like this one)
  • Silicone (or another leak proof) sealant
  • Thick sponge
  • Strong duct tape like Gorilla or Flex Tape
  • Drill
  • Sharp, serrated knife or hand saw

Tips: You can use any type of bottle that fits your erect penis size closely. Just be sure and choose a bottle that is thick enough that the sides don’t collapse easily. This particular soda bottle has smooth, small bumps inside that will add a stimulating dimension to the feel of this DIY penis pump.

Instructions

Step 1: Using the serrated knife, cut the bottom off of the empty soda bottle.

Tip: Be sure the bottom is cut as evenly as possible as this will be the end that seals against your
body.

Homemade penis pump directions; photo of step 2 showing a hole being drilled into the soda cap.
Step 2: Remove the cap from the soda bottle and drill a hole in the cap using a drill. Tip: To find the proper drill bit size, place drill bits inside of your tubing until you find the bit that fits inside snugly. Then use the drill bit that is the next size up.

Step 3: Apply the sealant around the outside of the tubing.

Step 6: Using scissors, cut the circle out of the sponge just outside the line you drew.

Step 7: Using the scissors, cut out the inside of the circle of sponge, like a donut. Keep trimming until you can slide the ring of sponge around the bottom of the bottle without causing the sides to bend.

Step 8: Slide the ring of sponge around the opening in the bottom of the bottle leaving enough sponge to fold over and cover the entire rim. Next, cut a strip of strong, duct tape that will create a leak proof seal. I used an infomercial, well-known brand of flexible tape.

Step 9: Begin folding over the sponge and taping it down with the tape. Be sure each piece overlaps the next and the tape is pressed down firmly.

Homemade penis pump instructions; photo of step 10 showing the tape added all the way around the cut opening of the bottle.
Step 10: Continue adding the tape around the cut end of the bottle, creating a soft seal all the way around.

Step 11: Once the sealant on the cap and tubing is dry, screw the cap back on and your homemade penis pump is ready to use. Tip: if you cannot create a suction, check that the tubing is sealed properly and air tight. You can add more sealant or even seal the cap shut entirely.

Information You Should Know

Now that all of the do-it-yourself fun is finished, let’s dive into some important information you need to know before using a penis pump. For example, penis pump basics, injury risks and how to use a penis pump are all discussed, at length, below.

What is a Penis Pump for?

DIY penis pump; photo of a professionally made penis pump.

Although you see penis pumps listed as sex toys for men, they are actually a treatment for erectile dysfunction. You see, by placing your penis inside of the tube and using the pump to pull all of the air out of the space, it pulls on the penis in all directions. As a result, blood rushes into the blood vessels, creating an erection.

Next, once the erection is achieved, you put on a cock ring which helps you to maintain the erection. Then, you are able to have intercourse.

Medically, penis pumps help the vast majority of men suffering from erectile dysfunction stemming from aging, diabetes, post-operative prostate treatments and other medical and psychological problems. Plus, it’s far safer than medications and surgery.

And, after practice and regular use, the blood vessels become open and more receptive, allowing some men to regain natural sexual function.

Will a Penis Pump Make My Penis Bigger?

The jury is still out on whether or not a penis pump will make your penis bigger. Certainly, while you are using the device, your penis will be slightly larger and more firm.

Think of it like sucking a cup over your lips – we’ve all done that as kids. Once you remove the cup, suctioned to your mouth, your lips are puffy and maybe a bit red from the blood rushing to that area. Therefore, a penis pump works in the same way, increasing blood flow temporarily.

And, as with men who have blood flow problems downstairs, opening the blood vessels more can improve erection firmness. However, you won’t see any dramatic improvement in the size of your penis.

Can I Hurt My Penis Using a Penis Pump?

Homemade penis pump; panis injury, photo of man holding his crotch.

Yes, you can injure your penis by using a penis pump. That’s why most medical professionals suggest you only use a penis pump a few days a week and only long enough to achieve an erection. Of course, men with healthy penises can use a pump more frequently. However, you must watch out for these problems, according to Medical News Today:

Injury Warnings

  • Pain or bruising: Incorrect use of a penis pump can result in bruising and other painful injuries to the penis.
  • Burst blood vessels: Small red dots, or petechiae, may appear under the skin of the penis.
  • Skin numbness, tingling, or discoloration: These symptoms may indicate that the constriction ring (cock ring) is too tight. Using a larger ring should help alleviate the pressure.
  • Unnatural feeling erections: Some users report that their erections do not feel natural or spontaneous when using a penis pump.
  • Lack of firmness: This is often most noticeable at the base of the penis.
  • Feeling of trapped semen or painful ejaculation: A small cutout in the constriction ring can help reduce these symptoms.
  • Psychological effects: Having to stop to use a penis pump before sexual activity may ruin the mood for some couples. Some people may also feel awkward or embarrassed about using a penis pump before sexual activity.

How to Use a Penis Pump

Using a penis pump is pretty straight-forward. But, if you happen to be unusually bushy down there, you may want to manscape a bit so that the penis pump opening creates a better seal against the skin. Otherwise, follow these simple steps:

  1. Lightly lubricate your penis to prevent soreness.
  2. Place your penis inside the tube.
  3. Press the opening against your skin.
  4. Use the hand pump to remove the air from the tube.
  5. Once an erection is achieved, remove the pump and put on an erection ring.

DIY Penis Pump Warning

Here at Bed Bible, my top priority is your health and well-being. That is why I recommend only using professionally manufactured sex toys, and in this case, a penis pump. When using any sort of DIY sex toy, you run the risk of pain, injury or allergic reactions. But I am not your mama, therefore, it’s your choice to do whatever you want with your penis.

And, if that means making your own DIY penis pump and sticking your penis in there, that’s your business. I mean, you are a grown-ass man, right?

There are Alternatives to Homemade Pumps

And, it would be irresponsible of me not to give you alternatives to making your own penis pump. Therefore, here is some important info in regard to buying safe, professionally manufactured penis pumps.

Where to Buy Penis Pumps

Penis pumps are available all around the internet – from sex toys shops to medical and dedicated brand sites. And, if you’re wanting to get your hands on one now, most brick-and-mortar lingerie and sex toy shops carry a reasonable selection.

Penis pumps can be inexpensive – starting at around $20 – and go as high as $300 for a super-deluxe, water powered pump. Several medical-grade, penis pumps have their own dedicated websites and those usually run at the upper end of the price scale.

You can also read our guide to both the best electric penis pumps and the best vibrating penis pumps.

Get a Prescription

But please keep in mind, if you have erectile dysfunction and health insurance, see a urologist and he or she can prescribe a top-of-the-line pump. And, if you have good insurance, you could very well get your luxury penis pump for free or at least for a cheap co-pay!

Don’t Forget the Erection Ring

Finally, if you are looking for a cock ring, those are much easier to come by. Many retail locations, drug stores and big-box stores carry them in the family planning sections near the condoms. Or, you can order them online. This silky-soft, silicone cock ring from Screaming O is only $5.95.

Final Thoughts on Homemade Penis Pumps

I’m sure you found your way to this DIY penis pump blog for one or two reasons. One, for some reason you are unable to purchase a penis pump; either because of financial constraints or you cannot order such things in your country.

And two, you either want help for erectile dysfunction or are seeking stronger, firmer erections. All of those reasons are worthwhile.

Therefore, be sure and follow instructions for use carefully and stop using any penis pump if you experience any pain, bruising, bleeding or rash.

But most of all, know that erectile dysfunction is something many men encounter for various reasons and it makes you no less of a man! Along with penis pumps, there are so many amazing solutions out there that work.

In addition, if you’re looking for a way to improve your penis size, I highly recommend you look into penis exercise programs as well. Honestly, think about it. Working out defines muscles and builds strength. Therefore, it only makes sense that a penis workout routine may render results.
