Our tester, Isabelle, thoroughly enjoyed using the Sportsheets Sincerely Bow Tie because of the simple yet unique design. Sure, the bow tie may not be for everyone, but it is a fairly toned-down look that will make anyone who wears it look and feel a tad more dressed up (in the kinkiest way possible). Even though the collar itself is quite thick, it’s actually quite comfortable to wear. The chain itself is also chunky and heavy which makes it feel like it can withstand a bit of a tug or two!
Overall, it’s a pretty durable and simple collar and leash combo that adds a fun little flair to your kinky adventures. While it’s not a high-end product, it’s still good quality and very affordable!

The Sportsheets Leather Collar and Leash is another great option that’s a tad more beginner-friendly than our Test Winner above. It’s a bit slimmer and less sturdy which makes it less restrictive and more comfortable for a newbie to wear. As our tester, Isabelle, said: “I think it looks great on, as does my partner, and it’s comfortable enough to wear for longer periods. It’s actually easy to forget you are wearing it”.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for more seasoned users, as the leash is very thin and a bit stretchy too, so it’s not ideal for more intense tugging or pulling. It’s made of genuine leather, so with the proper care and maintenance it’s a pretty long-lasting item. Most beginner-friendly BDSM leashes and collars are made of faux leather which will deteriorate faster than real leather.

Why I Chose It
I had the pleasure of testing out the Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash for myself. I really like the reversible design! It’s such a cool way to offer different style options. The swivel mechanism on the buckle itself is also just really cool. That said, this reversible feature does make it less comfortable to wear since there’s no soft padding or lining on the “inside”. It can get sticky and sweaty really quickly when wearing the collar.
In addition to the surface of the material being uncomfortable, the stiffness and width of the collar itself makes it feel a lot more restrictive than all the other collars in this review. It almost feels more like a posture collar than a regular collar! Keep that in mind, if you’re a relative beginner when it comes to BDSM leashes.

It’s so so important to educate yourself about the basic guidelines for safe leash play before actually trying it out.
Basically, it’s always a good idea to be familiar with the basic BDSM safety guidelines in terms of (open and on-going) communication, (freely given and reversible) consent, and (agreed upon) safewords or safe gestures to stop any play immediately.
When it comes to playing with collars and leashes, there are few extras points I would like to make in terms of safety basics.
Never too tight!
Collars are simply not safe if they’re too tight. Make sure you research the sizing range of your collar beforehand so you don’t feel like you have to squeeze into something you actually can’t fit.
A good rule of thumbs is that you should be able to fit two fingers under the collar comfortably. You should definitely still be able to breathe, swallow, and move your head side to side when wearing it.
Type of Collar
