Personal Experience

A major part of my personality is being strong, independent, and opinionated. While in my professional life this serves me well, in the bedroom those qualities are deemed “bratty.” Thankfully, I have a partner that can handle my sass. I was interested to see if the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Beginner’s Flogger might compliment our dynamic.

First Impressions

I was a bit nervous to try out impact play, but when I opened the packaging I was instantly ready to try it out. I was expecting to find something cheap and “plastic” looking because the price was so low, but that’s not what arrived. I was impressed with the soft, faux leather wrapped around the sturdy grip and flowing down into the 44 fronds. There is a loop at the end of the grip that would make it easy to hang on the wall near the bed for easy access. Also, the size seemed perfect. As a beginner, it wasn’t so large as to be intimidating, but I think if it were any smaller it wouldn’t have the same affect or get lost in the sheets.

Leading Up to the Big Day

When the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Beginner’s Flogger arrived, my partner and I were in the middle of many projects and didn’t have the opportunity to use it right away. We did, however, enjoy mentioning it in our daily life. If I had a sarcastic comment or got sassy with them, the flogger was brought up as a punishment. This led to some very hot daytime interactions in anticipation of the “big event.” Adding scenarios that involved our under-mattress restraints, or bondage tape elevated the images so by the time we had a free night, we were both ready to go.

In the Moment

For the first use, my partner surprised me while I finished up some household chores. The soft fronds were delicately brushed up my arm and over my shoulder from behind. The unexpected tickling sensation had me dropping everything and following them into the bedroom like a good little sub. We started off slow, teasing and tickling all over to see what felt good and what didn’t, but honestly, it felt good everywhere. Of course, at one point I couldn’t help my snark and that’s when the play was elevated. Flipping me over, the Black Rose Flogger became a tool used in the manner it was intended. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, while delivering a nice “sting,” the impact wasn’t intolerable. It created a small amount of pain, but not enough to bruise, mar, or otherwise cause injury. Varying the angle and velocity changed the amount of “sting,” but it never became too much.

My Verdict

All in all, adding the Bondage Boutique Black Rose Beginner’s Flogger was an amazing way to keep the spice going through the week, and then provided some amazing results in the bedroom. It was a bit awkward at first, figuring out what positions and angles worked best, what I liked, and how to best play with it. I’m sure true, experienced Dom/sub dynamics might set up scenes and continue use throughout sex, but for us, this time, it was mostly a form of foreplay. I’m excited to use it again and try to incorporate it into the entire sexual experience. It was a very enjoyable addition to our toy box.
