My Experience With DOMINIX Deluxe Leather Flogger
Nervous Beginnings
When I first bought the DOMINIX Deluxe Leather Flogger, I was a little nervous. Was I about to waste 20 dollars on another low-quality flogger instead of just biting the bullet on a much more expensive one? What if I don’t like it? What if it ends up being a waste of money? My worry quickly turned into wonder when I finally got my hands on it. While it did shed a little upon first opening, I was delightfully surprised at the smooth texture and weighty handle. The tails were soft and uniform, and it didn’t have a weird chemical smell!Sometimes More Expensive Is Better…
Before I had the Dominix Deluxe, my only experience with slappers and floggers was subpar at best. That’s not to say it’s a mind-blowing toy, quite the contrary, I’d like to think this is a pretty standard flogger. Why I give it such a high rating is because of where I started. It’s akin to eating spaghetti with a spoon your whole life, yeah it works, but as soon as someone hands you a fork everything is just so much easier! You don’t have to strike as hard to get a good sting going. It takes less stimulation to get in a good headspace when receiving. The cracking sound as it makes an impact is just…*chef’s kiss*. This single purchase made me love the world of BDSM even more. While I will be saving up for a more advanced flogger, I just have to thank the DOMINIX Deluxe for letting me experience a taste of what’s to come. If you’re curious about BDSM or even just impact play, but are afraid of taking that leap because of the price this is the flogger for you!Design
The DOMINIX Deluxe Leather Flogger is a beautiful shade of black. With a very simplistic, straight-forward design, it can fit into any collection without awkwardly standing out from the rest. With its 40 tails, measuring 14.5 inches long each, you can hit a large surface area of the body with minimal force. The tails are smooth, and don’t need to be broken in before use to be enjoyable. And, I have yet to praise my favorite design choice… *drum roll* ...the handle. On behalf of all people with sweaty hands, the addition of the strap at the end of the flogger is divine. No more will I embarrass myself by accidentally throwing an entire flogger at someone's rear end (yes, that actually happened and I’m not proud of it).
Ease of Use
The DOMINIX Deluxe Flogger can be an amazing addition to an existing collection or a perfect first introduction to BDSM and/or sensation play. Overall, it’s a pretty standard flogger — there are no bells and whistles, but it still gets the job done.
Quality
The leather-bound handle is easy to hold, and won't cut into your hand if you happen to have a tight grip like me. Some lower-quality floggers you may find on places like Amazon tend to have annoyingly sharp edges along the shaft of the handle that can make the experience less enjoyable. I had no trouble with this one and the hefty weight aided in giving a satisfying *whip* sound when it makes contact.
Price
For $20, (or $19.99 if you want to get technical) I was pleasantly surprised with what I got. Being a broke college student, I’m guilty of buying cheap gear. Which usually means faux-leather bits flaking off of the toys and sticking EVERYWHERE. Though some fibers shook off when I first opened it, I have not noticed any more pesky flakes since. If you’re someone who’s been thinking about getting into BDSM, but the price tag always scared you off, look no further!
Performance
Now the fun part. Yay! When it comes to flogging there are two distinct types of pain, usually described as “thuddy” and “stingy”. The thinner the tails on a flogger are, the more “stingy” it will feel upon impact. Vice-versa with “thuddy”. The DOMINIX Deluxe delivers a more stinging pain since the tails are so thin, as shown in the image. Since there are so many tails, it can deliver an intense stinging sensation in a single strike!
Packaging
I dropped the ball on this one, and didn’t get a picture of the packaging before I threw it out. Don’t worry though, the shipping was discreet. Sorry! It also did not come with a storage pouch.
Materials and care
The material is premium leather with a metal button. The metal on the button is not specified, though. General flogger storage involves placing it in a cool, dry area with no sunlight to avoid material degradation over time. It's important to avoid flogging genitals and/or areas with blood or open wounds in general if you have multiple partners. This is because it is very difficult to properly disinfect leather floggers. If bloodplay and genital flogging are important to you, please consider having separate floggers for each partner or consider a non-porous material flogger such as silicone. For general cleaning, I suggest saddle soap (or any basic leather cleaner) with a washcloth to prevent cracking the leather.

Instructions - Manual
The Dominix Deluxe flogger does not come with instructions. Practice using the flogger by holding it firmly while flicking it with your wrist on a pillow, your forearm, your favorite stuffed animal, ect. Get a feel for how much force it takes to get a desired amount of pain. Also experiment with dragging it across your body or your partner’s body for sensation play.
