My Verdict
The Hot Octopuss Atom is a large cock ring that should not be taken lightly. The sheer size of it makes it a bit more difficult to use and the harder material can make it uncomfortable for those that are more sensitive. Personal Experience
Not a Perfect Fit
While using the Hot Octopuss Atom with my wife, we took a little time to warm up, since the lowest level vibrations are more than what she likes to start with. Once on my penis, the Atom was very noticeable due to its size and the width of the ring around the penis. I will say that it wasn’t very comfortable for me to wear, but it did not distract from the sex either. Once my wife was able to handle the higher vibrations, we started grinding to get the built-in nub hitting the right spots. Due to the vibrating portion for the ring being made of mostly plastic, my wife did not find it to be very comfortable either. While the sensations where not terrible for her or myself, they just where not what we would expect from a toy in this price range. When cycling through the vibrations, the sounds become very noticeable, and my wife could also feel my cock vibrating internally. The overall experience was a bit disappointing, as it was not what we had hoped for from this toy.Alternative Uses
I did let my wife rub the vibrating ring up and down my penis which felt somewhat better than when we use it inserted during sex. The concentrated vibrations on the tip of my penis and the tight thick ring sliding up and down was enjoyable and likely how we would use the toy again going forward.Design
The Hot Octopuss Atom is a great toy in concept and overall looks, but needs a few changes for it to be a great toy. The ring is soft and tight around the penis but the vibrating head is too large and thick in size.
Ease of Use
The Atom is a cock ring with a built in vibrator and easy to put on, with some lube, and easy to cycle through the vibration modes. The wear might have a little trouble getting it on comfortably due to the ring being thicker than other cock rings. Also due to the vibrating area being made of a hard plastic it might not be comfortable for the partner to grind on and use the toy as intended.
Quality
The Atom cock ring is built to survive a nuclear blast. What I mean by that is that the materials it is made of are durable and long lasting, but are also not very comfortable or enjoyable for the users. The toy is very large for a cock ring and also pretty heavy when on. You do notice the toy when using it both the size and the noise level. I was pretty surprised at how loud the vibrating motor actually was since a lot of toys these days focus on being quieter. You will definitely hear this thing in the room next door.
Price
At the time of this review, the Atom is $85.95 on Hot Octopuss' website, and, to me, is very expensive for what it is. The toy does look and feel like it will last for a long time but that is also part of the downside of making the toy feel better. If you could find the toy half-off, it might be worth trying, but at full retail price, I would suggest finding a different toy.
Performance
The Atom was mostly a let-down for us in its overall feeling and performance. Aside from the deep, powerful vibrations, the rest of the toy needs some changes to make it feel better for both the wearer and partner. The battery did charge quickly and is stated to last up to 40 minutes. During use, it easily lasted long enough but we where unable to use it on a higher vibration setting.
Packaging
This toy came in a small box with an image of itself on the outside. While it was shipped in a discreet box on the outside, the actual packaging of the toy is very revealing of what is inside. Inside the box were some care and use directions, which are always nice to have, just in case.
Materials and care
This ring portion of the Atom is made of silicone, with the vibrating portion and buttons made of hard ABS plastic. These are common, body-safe toy materials and also help make to toy waterproof and easy to clean. It is recommended that a safe toy cleaner is used, though mild soap and water will work on this toy as well.
