My Verdict
I really do like the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle, and would love to try out all the different scents! The Snow Pear & Cedarwood was surprisingly sensual, sweet, and crisp while the scent itself was moderately strong. It added a nice touch to our experience without being overpowering. I think the thicker consistency of the massage oil makes it very easy to manage when transferring from the jar to the skin. However, I would have loved it if the design incorporated a pouring spout for some tantalizing drips and skin-safe wax play. It’s actually pretty reasonably priced when you consider the overall quality, aesthetics, and the 36 hour burn time!

The LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is a premium quality massage candle available in three different sensual aromas: Snow Pear & Cedarwood, Vanilla & Crème De Cacao, and Black Pepper & Pomegranate. In this review, I'll be testing the version with Snow Pear & Cedarwood with the green handle. All the candles are made of natural soy wax, shea butter and apricot kernel oil. This makes the massage oil a perfect temperature for dripping onto the body. The formula makes a nice and thick oil that feels absolutely luxurious to rub into your partner's body.

We Love a Scented Candle!
I’m a sucker for a good scented candle! Of course, I prefer when they’re made of non-toxic ingredients but still manage to smell amazing. With the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle I got to combine my love of scented candles with my love of sexy, sensual adventures in the bedroom. When I first opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the fragrance! I may admittedly have been a tad skeptical about the Snow Pear & Cedarwood, but I actually really enjoy it. It’s nice and sweet and very crisp, but still wasn’t overpowering. When the candle was lit, it didn’t quite fill the room with the smell, but really came into the limelight during the massage. It added a nice and relaxing touch to the whole experience.Great for Sensual Massage
When in action, I was pretty impressed by the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle. It did take longer than expected to melt a good amount, but that makes sense considering the size of the candle. Once melted, the wax got a nice and thick consistency that was actually really easy to pour into your hand and onto your lover’s body. I’ve used other massage candles in the past that had a very low viscosity, and were significantly less manageable to transfer onto the skin without making a mess. The was from the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle was easy to use and a breeze to distribute all over the skin.Not Ideal for “Wax Play”
I have to admit that my inner kinkster wanted more from this candle. I love having the option of engaging in some skin-friendly wax play when it comes to massage candles. Some massage candles also have a spout to make this a lot easier. This is not the case for the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle. It has an infuriatingly round edge. Actually, even pouring the wax into my hand from this jar shape resulted in a lot of wax dripping down the sides of the jar. Definitely required some clean-up afterwards to maintain that sleek, clean look while the candle decorates my nightstand.How is the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle designed
I really like the design of the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle! It’s very sleek and luxurious with the minimalistic design and the metal lid. Of course, it may not match everyone’s personal style, and I have to admit I prefer a more earthy and natural aesthetic. The look itself can be slightly “sterile”. All this is, of course, just a matter of preference. I am still very impressed by the overall design, and very much appreciate the minimalist look.
How Easy is the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle to Use? A Review
Now, massage candles are notoriously easy to use. Light it, wait for the wax to melt, pour it, and massage into the skin. Simple! However, some massage candles I’ve used in the past have certain design features or formula flaws that make them a lot more tricky to use. In comparison, the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is very easy to use. The viscosity of the wax formula, once melted, is easy to handle as you pour. One thing I would have loved to see is some kind of pouring spout. Pouring the wax onto the skin was actually tricky to do smoothly. You often end up spilling a bit or having some fall-out on the sides of the jar.

There’s no doubt that the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is a very high quality product. That’s visible in the luxurious design and packaging, as well as the all-natural wax ingredients, and the sensual scents available. My candle arrived slightly damaged with a small crack in the plastic on the green handle. But I’m sure that was due to some issues during shipping or storage and had little to do with the overall quality of the product itself.

I don’t think the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is totally unreasonably priced. It is a good quality massage candle that obviously also works beautifully as a scented candle. It offers up to 36 hours of burn time (and plenty of massage sessions). Considering that, I think you’ll get a lot of fun out of those 35 bucks! That said, it is one of the more expensive massage candles out there. If you don’t need a candle this big, or you’re just wanting to try something like this out for the first time, you can definitely find some cheaper alternatives out there.
Pleasure Check: How does LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle Measure Up?
I think the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle performed really well. I really enjoyed the fact that the high viscosity of the wax formula made it easier to handle when transferring from the candle to the skin. The formula was thick enough to control yet soft enough to easily be massaged into larger areas of the skin. Again, the only thing I think would help make this a better experience is a pouring spout.

As always with LELO products, the packaging for the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle was really nice. A smooth cardboard box with a lot of internal padding to ensure the safety of the glass. It was very similar to any kind of packaging that holds fragile glass bottles or jars, like perfumes or regular scented candles. It’s very discreet in design without any explicit images or writing.
Material and care guide
There isn’t much to keep in mind when maintaining a candle like this. Of course, try to avoid too much candle “tunnelling” or drowning the wick as you go. The candle jar itself is made of black glass, and a metal lid with a hard plastic handle. The wax is made of all-natural soy wax, apricot kernel oil, and shea butter (and linalool, d-limonene, and kexylcinnamaldehyde for the fragrances). The oil washes off easily but also helps retain the skin’s moisture when rubbed in.

Instructions - Manual
To use the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle, simply remove the lid and light the candle. The instructions say to wait about 20 minutes, but I found that it actually takes a bit longer to melt a good amount of wax. Whenever you have your desired amount of wax melted, blow out the candle and let it cool for at least 30 seconds. Then pour the wax into your hand and apply the massage oil onto your skin or your partner’s skin for a sensual, scented massage session.
