My Experience With Lora DiCarlo Filare

The Lora DiCarlo Filare was a bit of a wild card for me. I really wanted to love it and was excited to try a sex toy from Lora DiCarlo. I wanted to experience a new sensation and it certainly delivered on that. Unfortunately, that new sensation wasn’t what I hoped it would be, and overall, I was pretty disappointed. And it’s hard to disappoint me when it comes to clitoral stimulation — my clitoris is usually very cooperative and enjoys all the attention it can get, but the Filare did not push the right buttons, or at least didn’t push my button in the right way!

Could I learn to love it?

Design

The Filare has a lovely design, although it definitely also reminds me of an ergonomic mouse, just with the buttons on the wrong side! It comes in a lovely Navy color and I love the yellow storage bag — so bright and sunny!

Ease of Use

The buttons can be a bit confusing at first because the on/off button and settings buttons are in separate places. Also, you cannot see the buttons when in use so you have to get familiar with them. I love the charging indicator and that it flashes when you only have five minutes of charge left so you don't run out mid session — amazing feature! In terms of actually using the device, it can take a bit of experimentation to find and maintain the best position on your clitoris and I found this pretty frustrating.

Quality

The Filare is SO loud! Being a lover of clitoral suction toys and powerful vibrators, I am used to toys being pretty loud, but the Filare takes it to a new level. On the highest setting it can reach up to 60 decibels. And it's not only the volume but the noise itself, which sounds like a mechanical churning noise. I can usually block out sex toy noises in the moment, but this was pretty distracting. The device feels pretty well made, although the silicone layer over the balls feels very thin, which makes me wander how durable it is. Also, the angle of the charging pins for the magnetic charger makes it tricky to maintain a strong connection during charging. I would expect a lot more from such an expensive product.

Price

The Filare is very expensive, and I personally wouldn't spend this amount of money on it. Not only does it seem like a very acquired taste in stimulation, I don't think the quality lives up to the price.

Performance

The Filare has 10 speed settings and 3 directional settings — the two balls can circle clockwise, anticlockwise or alternate one way and then the other. You can also adjust how much the balls protrude using the mode button but I didn't feel like this made much of a difference in stimulation. If you apply too much pressure to the balls, they stall and slow down, so you can't push the Filare too firmly against your body.

Packaging

It's no secret in the sex toy world that Laura DiCarlo offers a real unboxing experience! You definitely get the feeling you are unwrapping a very special gift as you peel back the layers to uncover the Filare! There is an outer slip cover, followed by a sturdy box that opens up to reveal the Filare and accessories. I love the signature yellow color scheme — it's bright and neutral and a refreshing change from pink or purple. To be honest, this was the best part of the experience for me!

Materials and care

The Filare is totally waterproof and made from silicone and ABS plastic, which are both non-porous. This makes it very easy to clean using warm water and soap or a sex toy cleanser. Once clean and dry, you can pop it inside the storage bag for next time. For the best sensations, you should use the Filare with some water-based lubrication, so the massager can slide smoothly over your clitoris. Be sure to avoid silicone based lubrication, as this could damage the silicone.

Special feature

The unique feature of the Lora DiCarlo Filare is supposed to mimic the feeling of a tongue during oral sex. However, that’s not really what it felt like. For a start, I am yet to meet anyone who’s tongue is that rigid and can spin around at such great speed. If I were to think of a sex toy that were to mimic a tongue, I would want it to feel more organic and softer. I would be less miffed that it is compared to oral sex if the stimulation felt good. I can forgive clitoral suction stimulators being compared to oral sex because even though that is in accurate, they feel incredible, and I honestly don’t know how we lived without them for so long.
