Personal Experience
The Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge showed up in a wedge-shaped box… I guess that’s discreet enough…? When I see a wedge-shaped box, I think, “sex wedge”, but I also write sex toy reviews, so maybe that’s just where my head is at. Maybe other people think “comfort pillow” (in the same way people see “personal massager” and don’t immediately think vibrator?). But I digress. Let’s get to the actual product.
One Pillow, Many Uses
I think the big advantage of any sex wedge is its versatility. So simple in design, but so many ways to use it! Unfortunately I had to do some web searches for ideas, because this product came with no instructions whatsoever. It’s not that it’s hard to find info on it, but a little pamphlet would have been nice. Anyways, we tried it out a few different ways… Let me tell you about it!Oral Comfort
The first thing we used the Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge for was oral sex. As the giver in this situation, I was extremely happy to see how much easier this was on my neck! For those of you who enjoy going down on a woman, you know that hardest part is keeping your neck from cramping. This wedge was excellent at keeping things at an angle that made everything more accessible. This alone would be a winner (for me, at least!)Lift and Receive
The next obvious position for us was to have her place the wedge underneath her… First up: missionary. With the wedge propping her up, the pillow elevated her hips. The view was fantastic… but I digress again… Penetration in this position created a new angle which was a big hit with my partner! It allowed for stimulation of parts that don’t always get stimulated in regular missionary position (without a lot of acrobatics). When trying from behind, although the wedge did provide a more comfortable “stance” for her, she found the angle of penetration a little too deep, but that’s personal taste. Next up: Doggy. This position was also a winner for a few reasons. Number one: all the right angles. Once again, the pillow allowed for some excellent spots to be stimulated for both of us. And the bonus was that it made for a much more comfortable experience, reducing the pressure on her legs.Her On Top
The next on our list was to have me use or under my legs with her on top. This was definitely more comfortable for me, although it didn’t really add any spice to the position. The Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge, for our body types, is well designed. Both my partner and I are tall, so we found the angle and size of the wedge to be well-proportioned for our bodies. I suppose shorter people might find it a bit too high (7.5 inches), but for our legs, it was great! (I am 6'0, and my partner is 5'10", for reference). I like the grey color; it looks chic, and the little Lovehoney logo on the zipper is a cute touch.
Ease of Use
It's a pillow... How hard can it be to use...? That being said, without any instructions we were left to our own devices to figure out how we wanted to use it. To be fair, there are so many ways you can place it, it really depends on your personal taste, as well as you and your partner's biology. I'm sure some positions we found comfortable would be clumsy or awkward for others, and vice-versa. However given some time, I do believe everyone would be able to find some comfortable (and exciting) way to use the Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge. Although it's not our case, people with injuries or mobility issues could find this wedge to be a real game-changer for their sex lives. Its flexibility is use could make for some excellent adaptations for those who have trouble positioning themselves comfortable for sex.
Quality
The Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge has a good firmness to it. It is comfortable, with a bit of give, but firm enough to hold our body weight. I like the removable cover, which is easy to clean and seems well made. The zipper is smooth and the cover is easy to take off. It is also plasticized on the underside, thereby protecting the foam of the wedge itself.
Price
The Lovehoney Elevate Sex Position Enhancer Wedge sits right in the sweet spot of pricing of similar products of this nature, and is around $10 cheaper than its main competitor from the Liberator brand. These wedges are not cheap, but at the same time, I don't find them overpriced for what they are. The product is simple, but effective and if this is the kind of thing you are looking of, either for variety or comfort due to mobility issues, I feel it's worth the price. Perhaps other brands would have given more "perks" in terms of packaging or instructions...?
Performance
Whether we were using it with me on top, or her on top, both ways offered a variety of options. It was definitely comfortable, and did offer up new angles of penetration, or in some cases, just the ability to hold certain angles for longer. In this case, it definitely lived up to its claims. I can't personally speak to it's claims to support people with mobility issues, however I can easily see how for certain cases, it would really help those who may have trouble getting into certain positions.
Packaging
We all appreciate discrete shipping for sex products. In theory, this shipping was just as discrete as any other product, except it came in a giant wedge-shaped box. So although the box had no markings on it to indicate what it was, I wonder if my neighbors were looking at it on my doorstep and smiling... Opening the box was a little disapointing, not because the product didn't look and feel good, but because there was no documentation included. I get that this is a pillow, but having never used one before, I had to resort to the internet for any tips/tricks or position ideas. I suppose that playing with it is part of the fun, and exploring different ways to use it is exciting. I just would have appreciated a place to start when deciding what to do with it.
Materials and care
The interior foam of the wedge is firm and solid. It feels like it will stand the test of time. After all, a wedge like this needs to be made for some movement *wink wink*. Both my partner and I found it to be quite comfortable underneath us. I also enjoyed the fabric of the cover, which was a soft polyester, making it easy to clean. The plastic underside of the cover is also a nice touch, and will surely help keep the foam in tact over the years.
