Using the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag
Personal Experience
The Saffron ball gag was my introduction into gags, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I first put it on I was a little bit worried about how well I could breathe with it, but even though the ball totally filled my mouth there wasn’t any issues. I immediately loved how soft the inside of the straps were, and how nicely it was all sewn together. I love and generally prefer genuine leather, but I have zero complaints about the quality of the straps on this. My jaw doesn’t have much trouble being stretched wide, but even so, wearing this for an hour+ did make me sore. Part of it I’m sure is my uncontrollable urge to chew on it (it’s seriously so satisfying!), but for future long sessions I might find something a little smaller in circumference.Power Play
My dominant and I really enjoyed how this added to our dynamic. The act of them putting it on me and buckling it into place, giving up my ability to speak and making me lean even further into conveying my needs through body language alone. Similarly to being collared, it helped me sink into my submission and enhanced everything I was feeling during our play. And while it didn’t totally quiet the noises I was making unless I was actively closing my lips around it, the sound of every noise I was making being muffled sent a thrill up my spine.The Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag: Behind the Design
The Saffron ball gag has a sleek design and I love that the buckle is black and perfectly blends in with the strap. I also love that the buckle has a little loop in it to put a lock in it, though I haven't used that feature yet so I don't know how comfortable it is with the lock against the back of your neck. I'm deducting five points from the rating purely because the excess strap kept falling out of its loop and it looked kind of awkward. It also has a tag on the inside that I ended up cutting out due to discomfort.
The Usability of the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag
The Saffron ball gag is very easy to use! I had to adjust it a few times during my first use because I didn't realize how tight it could fit while still being comfortable and safe to use. The buckle isn't super small, but if you struggle with fine motor skills it may give you some issues.
The Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag: A Test of Quality
With the Saffron ball gag straps being PU/vegan leather and with the price point being on the lower side, I didn't have the highest expectations, but this is honestly very well-made. The stitching is sturdy and the material is thick enough that it not only looks like real leather but it holds up to some rough play. The silicone feels soft and has a nice weight to it, and so far doesn't have any lasting marks from me teething it. The buckle is also nickel-free, which I appreciate as someone who has a nickel sensitivity.
Is the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag Worth the price?
For the price point, the Saffron silicone ball gag is a great introduction to this kind of play. It even comes with a very nice drawstring pouch to store it in, which in addition to helping it be discreet is also very effectively keeping dust from clinging to it.
Performance Analysis of the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag
I think this ball gag does exactly what a ball gag should do, and nothing more: Holding a gag in place in your mouth and being comfortable to wear. My only concern with it is that since it is fake leather, that the place where it's buckled may eventually start to crack and wear, and since it's not real leather there's no kind of conditioning you could use on it that would prevent that from happening.
Assessing the Packaging of the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag
The box that the Saffron ball gag comes in is surprisingly high quality. Though the box itself is farm from discreet and shows a woman in lingerie displaying the ball gag on all sides, including on the inside of the informational panel on the front, my only concern with that is potentially nosy neighbors seeing it in my recycling. The toy itself is inside of a pull-out box, and comes in a plastic bag next to it's storage pouch. I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of it before recycling the box, so I can't include that in my review.
Understanding the Materials and Care for the Sportsheets Saffron Ball Gag
My favorite part of the Saffron gag is how easy it is to clean. I personally use an unscented castile soap and warm water, and just use my hands to scrub it. Since the gag doesn’t come apart from the strap, it can be tricky to clean the place where they’re connected. Once I give it a good rinse I towel it off and hang it from the buckle so that it can fully dry before putting it back into storage.
