Why I Chose It
Peter tested this strap on kit with his wife and had nothing but positive things to say, sending this to the very top of my list.
One of the things he highlighted was how it “put me in absolute heaven with its powerful vibration and nice size”.
One of the only things he did note as a downside was “I feel it could be wider”, which is great for beginners. Generally speaking you would want to start a size smaller that you think. Even if you have had experiences with dildos or penetration in general before, starting small is the safe and smart choice.
The strap on is also a great beginner choise because it packs a little more than the typical starter would need – an integrated remote controlled vibrator in the dildo. Peter described the the vibration and the sound as “minimal but packs a punch and will not disappoint”.

Why I Chose It
Whether you’re a pegging beginner or simply looking for a starter strap on for your toy collection, this Tracy Cox kit has something for everyone.
The smaller, smooth dildo makes for an excellent first-timer anal toy, while the longer, textured dildo is girthy enough to provide intense sensations for both vaginal and anal penetration.
This is also the feedback we got from Emiel, who tested it for us. He reported that despite owning a harness brief already he “actually prefer it to my current brief harness”.
Although him and his partner found it “awkward to adjust”, they did discover that both him and his partner thought it made his “butt look really good”.
Because of the adjustable straps the “harness sat snug” the entire time.
The biggest pro in my expert opinion is two-fold.
For one, the harness can be adjusted to fit almost anyone of any size. Second, the fact that you get two different size dildos with the set means it can be used both vaginally or anally.
This makes it perfect for any couple wanting to start out with strap on sex, without really knowing where to begin – as it can be used for virtually anyone, and anything.

Why I Chose It
Cassie, who tested the this beginner-friendly strapless strap on for us, said that despite all the rumors on strapless strap ons not really working “it was comfortable to wear and requires less support than I thought a strapless strap-on would require”.
It stayed in place is because of the large bulb on the pony, which is unlike most other strapless strap ons where the bulb is less of an egg-shape like it is on the strap-on-me strapless strap on.
It had the added benefit for Cassie that “it put pressure on [her] g-spot every time the dildo moved”, which caused the “experience [to be] a lot more interactive than I was expecting a strapless strap-on to be”.
The fact that the special design on the pony “keeps it in place pretty effectively” caused me to pick this as the perfect one for any beginner, because it is very likely the thing you are going to be struggling with. On top of that the dildo is a very slim and approachable size, making it a good match for newbies.

Why I Chose It
Vern, who tested the Lovehoney Unisex Strap On Briefs is one of our most avid testers. He’s an experienced strap on user, and absolutely loved and raved about these in his review.
He especially pinpointed the comfort level, and say he could “wear them all day without discomfort”, and that they “are great for pegging, packing, and feeling sexy”.
Although he did praise them to the skies, rightfully so, they do have their downside. First, if your “dildo is on the heavy side, it’s going to pull the briefs down a little when walking around or thrusting”, but although it’s a downside for Vern it is simply a fact of the nature of the product, in my expert opinion.
One downside he did point out that I agree with is that “they’re cheaper” which does mean “they aren’t going to stay pristine forever“.
Although, it is a downside for someone like Vern looking for that next Strap on harness, it does make it a great beginner choice.
In essence, you can try strap on sex with a dildo you have at home (or buy a cheap one) with the one-size O-ring, and figure out, if it’s something you want to continue with – without spending to much on getting started.

Starter Strap-on kit vs Separate harness & dildo
- Kit – with a starter strap-on kit, you’ll get the essentials needed to start your strap-on journey, and you’ll know that each part of the kit fits properly- it will also be the cheaper option; the downside to a kit is that you cannot choose your own strap-on or harness (i.e color, shape, texture).
- Separate – buying your starter strap-on essentials separately means that you can choose the strap-on design, color, shape, size, and texture as well as the harness material and color; the downside is that you may find your strap-on is not compatible with the harness you purchased- this is usually the more expensive option.
How to choose a starter strap on
- Dildo length & girth – for beginners, a small strap-on with a less intimidating girth is a good option- especially for pegging.
- Dildo material – the material of your strap-on depends on what you like; if you prefer flexibility, silicone, PVC, or TPE create soft strap-ons, however only silicone is body-safe; if you prefer complete rigidity, harder silicone, glass, or metal are ideal, body-safe materials and can offer pin-point pleasure.
- Harness style – for comfort, a pair of strap-on underwear can be great for beginners due to its comfortability and ease of use, however strap-on underwear can easily be weighed down by large strap-ons or depending on the fit; the harness is a favorite as it offers a secure fit, and allows use of larger strap-ons with ease, however some people find them tricky to put on and time-consuming to adjust.
- Harness adjustability – you can adjust a strap-on harness to fit your body perfectly, for example with plus size harnesses, however you cannot adjust a pair of strap-on underwear; for beginners, adjustability is a must as this helps you to get used to what works and feels best and feel comfortable is the most important thing.
- Multiple size o-rings – for those who own and use multiple sizes of strap-on, multiple sized O-rings are a must to be able to use the strap-on with a harness; some harnesses/strap-on underwear offer a single flexible o-ring that can adjust to different sized strap-on bases.
- Vibrations? – some people love vibrations and cannot orgasm without them, some can take them or leave them, and others like to keep vibrations far away from them- all are valid! Before buying your strap-on kit, ask yourself if you want a vibrating strap-on– if yes, you can purchase one with a motor inside or you can purchase a hollow strap-on which can be filled with a bullet vibrator.
- Price – strap-on kits can range from $30-$150, however all that matters is that you purchase a kit that has everything that you need.
