Test Winner DOMINIX Deluxe Bondage Collar and Chains w. Clamps
- PVC Nipple clamps
- Multiple clamps for simultaneous stimulation
- Leather collar
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Really thick leather band
- ✅ Bulky and strong chains
- ✅ Two different sets of clamps
Cons
- ❌ Clamp tips are made of PVC
- ❌ Could be overwhelming for a beginner
Why I Chose It
Sometimes, less is more… But not with this harness! The DOMINIX Deluxe Leather Collar with Clamps is one of those harnesses that has all the bells and whistles, and doesn’t apologise for it. This set immediately immerses you into the right headspace, combining functionality with sensory appeal – The mix between the thick faux leather around the neck and down the chest, with the cold metal chains really makes for a toy that can turn you and your partner on, to the max! That mix of harsh, thick black collars vs the thinner chains makes for a unique and overly BDSM collar set. That is why it has to be my Test Winning Toy!
Our tester Is had ana amazing time wearing it, expressing that “The collar’s versatility allows for different wearing styles, adding to its charm.” In terms of usability, while the tweezer-style clamps require some finesse, they stay put under moderate activity. When it comes to using it as a leash, it is not the best. It is more of a wearable fashion collar that prioritises introductory pain from the clamps and not more of a leash collar. That being said, the front loop can definitely have a leash attached to it, if you have one.
This collar doesn’t come without its minor flaws, like the decision to use PVC instead of silicone. Silicone is a non-porus material, a typical sex toy material as it is body safe and more durable. As this collar set includes labia and clit clamps, I would have preferred them to be made out of silicone instead of PVC.
For a BDSM collar, it can look slightly over whelming to the naked eye, but Is explains that “it is incredibly comfortable to wear, a crucial factor for extended play sessions.” She expresses that it can a be worn in multiple ways and tailored to hwo you want it, either using both the clamps or none at all. Therefore I would recommend this toy to intermediate BDSM explorers. The pricing is reasonable, especially given the quality of the leather and the dual functionality of the collar and clamps. For BDSM enthusiasts looking for a versatile, sensory-enhancing collar with a dash of edginess, this is a noteworthy choice.
Runner Up Sportsheets Sincerely Bow Tie BDSM Collar and Leash
- Faux leather collar
- 2 loops to connect the chain on either side of the collar
- Long leash length
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Comfortable to wear
- ✅ Gender neutral design
- ✅ Adjustable collar will fit most sizes
- ✅ Leash has swivel attachment
Cons
- ❌ Unnecessary use of cable ties in packaging
- ❌ Collar is quite thick
- ❌ Chain leash is heavy and noisy
Why I Chose It
The Sportsheets Sincerely Bow Tie Collar and Leash is a great collar that makes sure you’re certainly dressed for the occasion. Designed with a unisex aesthetic, it includes a comfortable, sturdy collar and a strong leash. And let’s not forget that handsome little bow tie! This design feature is a great way to add an extra layer of fun and power play to all kinds of fantasies.
If you don’t believe me, just listen to what our tester had to say about it: “Having my partner fasten the collar around my neck and attach the chain, was also part of the fun.” As this collar is a small BDSM accessory, it works well with other accessories too, like a body harness or eye-mask, to heighten the experience. The chain leash adds a stronger BDSM feel to this somewhat tame design, really introducing you to the Sub vs Dom world. It’s the perfect toy for a complete beginner or a tame BDSM lover.
The matte black finish and playful bow detail add to its appeal, making it suitable for various looks and role-play scenarios. It’s particularly user-friendly for beginners, offering easy clip-on functionality and a durable design. The design isn’t the most exciting and it doesn’t feel like the most luxurious set out there, but for the price, you couldn’t ask for much more!
Budget Friendly BASICS Collar with Nipple Clamps
- Dual stimulation around neck and nipples
- Cannot really be used as a walking leash
- Velcro fastening
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Affordable
- ✅ Adjustable alligator-style nipple clamps
- ✅ Lightweight
- ✅ Easy to keep clean
Cons
- ❌ Not lockable
- ❌ Velcro fastening not very secure
- ❌ Screw feature only loosens clamps
Why I Chose It
If you really love clamping someone else’s nipples or having yours clamped and you want to do that while attached to a collar, BASICS has you covered! This collar with attached alligator nipple clamps creates a real feeling of submission, with even the slightest of movements pinching those nips! The nipple clamps are adjustable, allowing for a customizable level of intensity, therefore being a great toy for beginners all the way up to those experienced BDSM lovers. A leash and collar set that is an excellent toy for multiple genres of BDSM, including pain training and sub vs dom roleplay. Is there anything this toy cant do?!
Our tester Catherine couldn’t get enough of this leash and collar set, showing her excitement of the design: “Who can resist the look of the chain draped attractively between the breasts? Not me!” I agree with her, despite being an easy to use, cheap toy, it doesn’t lack in design or style.
For a multifunction toy, it is incredibly affordable, thats why it has been given my Budget Friendly slot in this roundup. At such a low price, anyone can get into the leash, nipple clamp and collar game, so if you’ve been curious, this is a great place to start. Keep in mind, however, that this bondage collar may not be sturdy or secure enough for some. So if you’re into more rigorous dom/sub play, maybe opt for a lockable or buckle collar instead.

Why I Chose It
I couldn’t not include this amazing collar – Sick of those flimsy, thin, not so durable collars that don’t look that sexy or even border-line BDSM? Well my friend you no longer have to search, as for my ‘Expert Pick’ BDSM collar, I have chosen the creme de la creme of collars. Meet the Dominix Deluxe Heavy Leather Collar, and yes, it is exactly what it says on the tin. This heavy leather collar introduces you to the world of extreme bondage and power play, with a high quality, leather band that will be sure to lock up your most eager submissive.
I simply cannot take my eyes off of the thickness of this toy! With the 2.75 inch thickness, this collar cannot go unseen. Forget those thin, discrete collars, for this toy is the most obvious one in the roundup! Perfect for those Doms’ that really want everyone to know that they are not the sub. This collar definitely considers your comfort too, with the extra padding inside that will make any extended play more comfortable and enjoyable. Don’t say I don’t spoil you…
Don’t believe me on how good it really is? Jesse our tester expresses “I am a big fan of this collar, it’s exactly what I was hoping for.” From a certified Sub himself, what more persuasion do you need to buy this beauty?
Most stylish Bijoux Indiscrets Maze Tassel Choker
- Neck accessory
- Introductory BDSM play
- Mix of metal and vegan leather
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Super versatile collar
- ✅ Ideal for bondage play
- ✅ Beautiful for both everyday-wear and BDSM fashion
Cons
- ❌ Not for heavy duty use
- ❌ Not very subtle
Why I Chose It
What is it? A piece of statement jewellery? A really sexy kink collar? With this beautiful Bijoux Indiscrets choker, you’ll get both without compromising on that classic BDSM look. A stylish accessory for a cool event and a somewhat multi-functional bondage collar in private. Sometimes BDSM toys can be a little overwhelming, with too many daring chains or thick black pieces of leather. Yet I think this collar does the opposite – yes it has a leather collar, but it is attractive and somewhat jewellery like, taking away the harshness and adding some beauty and style.
Of course, this product might not be suitable for extreme pulling and tugging, but it will do just fine for gently leading your sub across the room. You can also use the tassels as a flogger or whip! Our tester Kasia passed this toy with flying colours, saying “The quality is great, the faux leather feels nice around the neck, and the fastening provides a secure fit.” how much more do I have to convince you!
If you’re feeling daring, this is a great day collar that lets you decorate your neck in inconspicuous ways and also lets you engage in some light bondage play by night! Why shoudlnt we be able to wear our bondage gear out of the house if it lifts an outfit? The versatility really is a bonus. With the long tassels available to you for leash play, sensation play, or impact play, the world is your kinky little oyster! Even though it is a tad more expensive than some of the other products in this review, I’d say you get your money’s worth with all of these benefits.
Glow-In-Dark Bondage Boutique Glow-in-the-Dark Collar and Leash
- Glow in the dark
- Not your typical BDSM image
- Short leash
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Affordable
- ✅ Vegan leather
- ✅ Glows in the dark!
- ✅ Beginner-friendly
Cons
- ❌ Lower quality
- ❌ Can stain easily
- ❌ Some may prefer a longer leash
Why I Chose It
The Bondage Boutique Glow-in-the-Dark Collar and Leash Set is the perfect bondage toy, whether you have or haven’t paid your electricity bill that month! No more arguing who wants the lights on or off, as this collar set gives you the choice! No more head butting each-other to try and find the light switch, as this collar set will surely make your dark bedroom activities more exciting! This unique set, featuring a collar and leash, is made from a flexible faux leather material that transforms from a subtle white in daylight to a captivating glow when darkness falls, adding an element of surprise to your nocturnal adventures.
The collar has seven adjustable holes and a buckle fastening, ensuring a comfortable fit for a variety of neck sizes. The interior is lined with a soft fabric to ensure comfort for the neck and hands. This set is a great choice for those who prefer to avoid real leather, but still enjoy an edgier look. To add, I would recommend it to those more daring folk, as the buckle fastening makes it is little less escapable than a velcro fastening, for example.
Our tester Christine was “a little unimpressed with its initial appearance, but its glow-in-the-dark feature truly shines, adding a fun twist to our playtime.” After the non-inital appearance of your typical ‘black leather and chains set’, the glow in the dark feature certainly out-ruled the first impression. It’s comfortable, easy to use, and affordable, although it may not be the most durable piece of kit long-term.

What to Look For in a BDSM Collar? A Buyer's Guide
Quick things to consider
- Size – Will the collar fit around your sub’s neck? If the collar in question has other adornments (such as harnesses), you’ll need to ensure that these will fit properly as well.
- Lockable – While having a sub collar that can be locked is a nice touch for some, others may not require it. Generally, a non-lockable collar will be cheaper.
- Comfort – You should establish how long you intend your sub to wear this specific collar. If it’s only for short-term wearing then comfort is less important. However, if you intend this collar to be worn for extended periods of time then comfortability is especially important.
- D-rings – If you’re buying a sub collar with the idea of chaining your sub, then you’ll want to make sure that the collar in question has D-rings. Without these, you won’t have any safe ways to chain your sub!
- Style – This all comes down to personal preference. While traditional leather collars are great, you may want to consider alternative options before settling down with the basics.
Type of Collar
First of all, you need to figure out which type of BDSM collar would help you fulfill your kinky desires. A cute little consideration collar-like look, a durable training collar for sturdy bondage, or a super restrictive posture collar?
Design
Consider what design you and your partner might enjoy – both in terms of aesthetic and function. Something cute and elegant, something with spikes or studs, something traditionally BDSM-y or something more colorful and modern? Do you want multiple fastenings points for some intricate bondage or more of clean look with one O-ring opening?
Materials
Which look and feel do you want against your subs neck? You can’t really go wrong with the classic collar materials, like leather, metal, or PVC. These are reliable and durable collar options. Not that other materials can’t be as good, just make sure that they’re compatible with what you’re intending to use them for.
Durability
Speaking of being compatible with what you’re planning on using your collar for, the durability of your collar is important! Of course, there are limits to how rough you can be with a collar, but depending on whether or not you’re using your collar for more extreme bondage or simply to keep a more unruly sub in check, you don’t want your collar to break under the pressure! Of coure, the slimmer and thinner a collar is, the less likely it is to be able to withstand extreme circumstances.
Price
BDSM collars are actually not the most expensive type of kinky equipment out there and you can actually get your hands on pretty good collars without going bankrupt. Again, your expectations for the collars quality and durability will also influence your price point. If you’re a beginner looking to try out this form of power play and don’t need much durability, you can easily get away with purchasing a collar at a lower price.
Types of Bondage Collar, and features of different sex collars
There are various types of bondage collars, each with distinct purposes and designs:
- Dog Collars: Resemble dog collars, often with spikes and a D-ring for attaching a leash.
- Decorative (Jewelry): Also known as “day collars,” these are fashion-like collars worn daily, symbolizing BDSM relationship status and devotion.
- Posture: Designed to maintain good posture by holding the neck in position.
- Muzzles & Masks: Full-head straps, often animal-like, used in roleplaying, focusing on appearance or silencing.
- Padded: Comfortable for long-term wear, without discomfort from sharp edges.
- Lockable: Prevents removal without permission, some requiring upgraded locks for security.
- With Leash: Includes a leash, commonly used in puppy and pony play.
- Harness: Extends beyond the neck to encompass the body.
- With Restraints: Incorporates restraints for hands or other body parts, sometimes more cost-effective than separate purchases.
- With Nipple Clamps: Features attached nipple clamps for additional play.
- Ball Gag: Integrates a ball gag for silencing.
- Consideration Collars: Worn during a Dom’s evaluation period of a sub’s suitability.
- Training Collars: Durable, used during playtime for training subs.
- Slave Collars: Extremely sturdy and restrictive, ideal for heavy-duty BDSM, often non-adjustable and lockable.
- Permanent Collars: Metal, sometimes custom-fitted for comfortable, subtle everyday wear, symbolizing deep commitment.
- Day Collars: A less intense or alternate form of permanent collars, discreet for daily wear.
The different types of BDSM collars actually have more to do with their meaning in BDSM relationships than how they look, feel, and which materials they’re made of. More specifically, they are categorized by their indication of the state of a Dom/sub (D/s) relationship.
These meanings can vary from couple to couple or from person to person.
Sometimes a sub collar is…
- Just a sign that someone is in some kind of D/s relationship.
- Simply an accessory brought out specifically for BDSM play sessions.
- A (sometimes permanent) symbol of serious commitment to their Dom.
There are of course many other reasons someone would be wearing a collar, but I’ll get back to that later.
For now, let’s go through the list of different types of BDSM collars!
Consideration Collars
Consideration collars are in the most literal sense, a collar given to a sub by a Dom to wear during the period where they are considering to pursue the D/s relationship. This type of BDSM collar doesn’t even actually have to be a real collar. It could easily be a necklace, bracelet or other jewelry that carries the same meaning. But often, it will be a subtle leather collar.
Training Collars
This is often the next level up from the consideration collar. A Dom will offer this new more heavy-duty bondage collar to their sub for them to wear during this new phase. The Dom starts training the sub to the standards they expect from now on and going forward. This collar will often be sturdier than the consideration collar to be more functional and better withstand whichever BDSM activities the Dom is training their sub in.
Protection Collars
Protection collar not really the “next step” in this process. These types of BDSM collars can be offered and worn at any point in a D/s relationship – or even outside of one! A protection collar is something a sub can wear to be under the protection of a certain Dom to signal to others in the BDSM community that they are not available. Often worn in the company of other kinksters – at a sex club or sex party, perhaps. Most importantly, this collar does not entail a deeper relationship. This collar signifies protection of a sub, not possession of one.
Play Collars/Slave Collars
Play collars are the type of collars that are often too… “BDSM-looking” to be wearing in public or around the house, so they’re mostly brought out specifically for play time! The great part about collars specifically made for BDSM play is the wide variety of extra features they often include. There are different kinds of designs for different flavors of kink!
This next level up from a training collar is also called a slave collar. This type of collar holds great significance within the BDSM community, as it signifies a Dom officially accepting a sub as their slave. It signifies a slightly more committed and long-term Dom/sub relationship. Slave collars can be the same as play collars in the way that they are often quite sturdy and made for more heavy duty bondage.
Collar & Leash
Adding a leash to a collar can really emphasize the power a Dom has over a sub. Drag your sub around the room, use it (safely!) for breath play, or even puppy play!
Sets like this Bondage Boutique Glow-in-the-Dark Collar and Lead adds some fun to your physical restraints. This kind of collar is great to use for some at-home fun, but is also a great accessory for showing off your D/s dynamic at a kink event or sex party!
Collar With Nipple Clamps
Most collars with O-rings or D-rings are comptabile with any kind of attachments with small hooks. So adding chains or cuffs directly to your collar should never be a problem. This way you can adjust your bondage to your liking.
Alternatively, some play collars have a design that incorportates cuffs, a full-body harness, or even nipple and clit clamps.
Posture Collar
Posture collars are a special type of BDSM play collar for particularly restrictive play. Designed to keep a sub’s head in place and restrict any kind of movement, this device is perfect for keeping your sub in the exact position you want them in during your session.
As always, ensure the wearer’s comfort and consent at all times. These collars are also not suitable for long-term use as they may weaken the muscles in the neck over time!
Collar With Ball Gag
Another fun feature to add to any collar or posture collar is, of course, a ball gag. Stockroom’s posture collar with a silicone ball gag makes up the perfect attachment that restricts both the mouth and neck in full adjustable tandem!
This type of collar is still fully compatible with other attachments at the same time, so you can even add additional accessories and features to this already devious setup!
Collar With Anal Hook
Of the many extra features a play or slave collar can have, this one is something special!
Attach the collar to your sub and secure the padlock, insert the hook into their anus, tighten the bar to your liking, and secure the setting with the seocnd padlock. Enjoy the full control you’re having over your sub’s movement… or, rather, lack thereof…
Permanent Collars
Alright, now things are getting serious with your collaring practice. Permanent collars are the type of BDSM collars worn to symbolize a very committed relationship between a Dom and a sub. Some consider their permanent collar as having the same depth of significance as a wedding band! These collars are therefore never really removed unless absolutely necessary. Therefore, they are often more subtle, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. Some like to secure their permanent collar with a small padlock while their Dom keeps the key safe.
Day Collars
The collars are very similar to the permanent collars, because they are also meant for everyday wear. Although day collars are not always permanent collars. A D/s can be in any stage of their relationship for them to agree on finding a discreet symbol of their kinky ways to be worn on an everyday basis. Day collars are often very subtle and more about the personal significance than the public display of your D/s relationship. Like the consideration collar, it can be anything you wear on your body. Often some kind of jewelry, like a choker necklace, a ring, an anklet etc. Some people have several day collars to match the style they’re going for on any given day!
How are Day Collars Different from Other Types of BDSM Collars?
So BDSM collars can be many things – they can look very different and also have very different meanings and purposes.
If you want an in-depth guide to all the different meanings, functions and features of different types of BDSM collars, I’ve actually written a whole blog post about it!
For now, I’ll just tell you about how BDSM day collars are different from other BDSM collars. First things first, there are many different types of bondage collars out there (again, check out the blog post for more info!):
- Consideration Collars
- Training Collars
- Protection Collars
- Play Collars
- Permanent Collars
- Day Collars
Apart from day collars and permanent collars, most of these collars will often be used during some BDSM play time and need to be functional for bondage or leash play. Functional sub collars for play time might even have some extra bells and whistles attached to them. Some are collars with nipple clamps or collars with a ball gag.
Day collars differ from these other types of collars since they are not neccessarily meant for play. They rarely require any functionality for bondage play at all. Day collars are moreso worn as a personal symbol one’s status as a sub in a Dom/sub relationship. A personal signifier for just you and your Dom (and maybe other kinksters you see out and about) but subtle enough to not attract unwanted attentin in public.
