My Verdict
I love this bit gag! It ticked every box for me in terms of what I wanted out of a gag, and wearing it was such a treat that I want to break it out all the time now. As someone who didn't want my jaw to ache with a regular ball gag, I found this one comfy, high-quality and still incredibly thrilling.

Personal Experience
I’ve wanted a gag for a long time, but never really found one that I thought would be a good match for me. I’m intrigued by the idea of wearing one, but practically-speaking, I have tight jaw muscles and hate having to open my mouth really wide. That’s why I decided on looking for a bit gag rather than a traditional ball gag. However, there just aren’t a lot of nice-looking, high-quality bit gags out there. After a long search, I finally found an answer: the premium BDSM brand UPKO. All of their designs are exactly my style, though this gag jumped out at me the most!
Love at First Bite
After unboxing it, I first tried on the gag without my partner, just to see if and how it fit. Yet, to my surprise, as soon as it put it on, I could feel how much I would enjoy it. It held my mouth open more than I expected, but the silicone felt super smooth and biteable. More than that, though, was how exciting it felt to wear! Being restricted in that way really puts you in a kinky headspace almost immediately.Testing It Out
When it came to test it out for real, I was not disappointed. My partner and I started out by using my new Lovense Lush 4 vibe, with him controlling it, which really put us into a dom/sub headspace. He decided to break out the gag, and it was very easy for him to put it on me, though I did have to let him know that he could fasten it tighter! Once the gag was on, it really took the scene to a whole new level. It didn’t muffle much sound, but it made my speech less clear and definitely made me drool, which I enjoyed more than I thought I would! It was also enjoyable to have something to bite down on as things got more intense.Always Be Safe
I highly recommend coming up with a safe signal before anyone puts on this gag. Even though it’s less extreme than other gags, it can still muffle your speech, and it’s always a good idea to have a way to stop play if you need to. It could be a hand gesture or just a distinct non-verbal sound, but make sure that you’re both aware of it before you start and agree on what it means.Design
I love how this bit gag looks. The black and gold is luxurious but understated, and the rope design of the silicone bit gives that traditional BDSM-look without being too scary or out-there.
Ease of Use
The fact that the bit is silicone makes this gag very easy and comfortable to use. It's flexible and soft on the skin, and the bit design means that it doesn't open your mouth to an uncomfortable degree. It's a very beginner-friendly gag! The only thing that can be a bit tricky is the buckle fastening at the back, but I was still able to do it myself with a little practice.
Quality
This UPKO gag is very high-quality, especially when compared to most other gags on the market today. I haven't seen these kinds of high-quality materials and construction before outside the world of bespoke BDSM wear, so to have them in a ready-to-wear gag is fantastic.
Price
Compared to other gags that you can find on sites like Lovehoney or Adam & Eve, this bit gag is definitely much more pricey. However, if you take a look at more premium leather bit gag options, you can see that they can go for over $100! So, for less than $50, I think the UPKO Knot-Shaped gag is the perfect middle ground, and well worth the money if you're looking to splash out a little.
Performance
This gag performs incredibly well at what it sets out to do. It's comfortable, flexible and biteable and looks wonderfully luxurious. It's also very beginner-friendly without feeling mass-produced like many other beginner BDSM items.
Packaging
I love UPKO's packaging — it's so refreshing compared to the cheesy, 90's porno vibes that many other BDSM gear brands go for. This gag came in a beautiful, gray, embellished box with a very interesting crow-themed logo on the front. Inside, the gag is wrapped up in a clear plastic bag. I do wish that it came with a nicer storage pouch, but since the box is so slim, you could also keep that for storage.
Materials and care
The silicone bit is completely non-porous and body-safe, and also easy to clean with soap and water. However, it cannot be detached from the leather strap, which should be not exposed to water wherever possible. For that reason, I find it easiest to clean this gag with a damp cloth and a small amount of soap, just on the silicone. If I need to clean the strap, I wipe it using a damp cloth with no soap. Then, it's also a good idea to use some leather conditioner on the strap every now and again.
