Doxy Die Cast Rechargeable Review

My Verdict
I wasn't blown away by the Doxy Die Cast R in the same way I was with the Doxy Die Cast, but I wasn't disappointed either. Also, I understand that it's unreasonable to expect a rechargeable wand to live up to the same power as a plug in one. Regardless, it's still the most powerful rechargeable sex toy I've ever tried. And, it's still certainly a heavyweight when it comes to pleasure. I love that the solid metal body has a dominating air to it. The vibrations are buzzier than the plug in, but the weight helps makes the stimulation resonate more. It's not perfect — it has a smaller range of settings and does slow under pressure, but I do love the ease of the cordless design and can still see myself reaching for it a regular basis.

Personal Experience

A Shiny New Sibling
When I saw that my beloved Doxy Die Cast was being released in a shiny new rechargeable version, I knew I had to try it out. Could it ever live up to the insane jackhammer power of it’s mains powered sibling or would it be forever dragging it’s feet in the shadows? I was skeptical yet still optimistic that these two wands could live happily side by side, each shining in their own way!Powering It Up!
I couldn’t wait to power it up and see how it compared to the plug-in version. The first thing I noticed was that it is much quieter, which is a big pro. The plug-in is so loud that I may as well lean out of my window and announce my activities to the whole street. Don’t get me wrong, the Die Cast Rechargeable is by no means silent, but with all the power it’s packing, I wouldn’t expect it to be. I will say, it’s can’t match the thundering power of the plug in, but, again, I’m not surprised by that. Although Doxy advertise it as having the same 3000-9000 rpm range, it definitely feels like it has a smaller range of intensities. The lower settings feel quite similar on both wands, with the Die Cast R being a little more intense and buzzier. The highest setting on the Die Cast R is definitely less powerful than the plug in. I also feel less of a jump in intensities when increasing the power. That being said, the rechargeable has more than enough power to satisfy, in my opinion, and it’s still impressively powerful for a rechargeable wand. Plus, it still feels great and gets me there every time and very quickly. I very, very rarely go near the highest settings on the corded Doxy Die Cast anyway because they are strong enough to blast me back through the wall. Although the vibrations feel faster and buzzier, the power and weight of the head mean they don’t feel irritating. I do understand that this will be a con for some, so if power or very deep low rumbly vibrations are a priority, I would 100% recommend the Doxy Die Cast corded version over this one.Under Pressure
The Die Cast R doesn’t perform well under pressure (same girl). When I hold the head in my hands or push the head against my body with a lot of pressure, it slows down, and the vibrations travel down into the handle. I also noticed this when using it my Liberator Wanda Toy Mount. It felt significantly less powerful when I rested against it. That being said, it still felt great and was powerful enough for my needs!Cord Free Convenience
I do love the practicality of this cordless version. I don’t need to untangle the wire or fumble to plug it in in the heat of the moment. I can just grab it and go. I also like that it’s easier for my partner to just grab it and there are no wires trailing over the bed or restricting his movement. Of course, the downside of that is I have to remember to keep it charged, which is not my strong point.Design

I'm a big fan of the overall shape of the Doxy Die Cast range. I love the big head as it's super easy to use, even while moving during penetrative sex. It is big but I also enjoy that because it looks powerful! I was a little unsure about the sparkly white design. I loved the minimalistic, almost brutalist look of the original brushed metal Die Cast and thought this ran the risk of looking a little cheap. However, I've actually come around to it and like that the glittery finish just gives a subtle sparkle that catches the light. If you order from the Doxy website, you are able to customise the design and choose different colors for the body, collar, and head.
Ease of Use

This rechargeable version feels much more practical as you don't need to stop and untangle a wire and plug it in. You do need to remember to keep it charged though and the battery life is only 60 minutes. The buttons are large and easy to press and they light up, making them easy to see in the dark. It also lights up orange to signify low battery, which is very handy! The only downside is that they can be easy to press by accident. The Die Cast R has a travel lock which also prevents it from going off in storage. To activate or deactivate it, press and hold the power and - buttons. It has one pattern mode — an escalating pulse pattern that can be activated by holding down the power button. I also love that I can slip it into my Liberator Wanda toy mount. I was always reluctant to use my corded Die Cast in there because I had to fold over the wire and didn't want to damage it. It fits in nicely but as I mentioned before, it does lose power when I push against it.
Quality

Overall, I think this is a great quality wand. The vibrations feel great and it's much quieter than the corded Die Cast, making it less distracting. I measured a range of 45-55 decibels. Although the head is rigid, the silicone covering it is buttery soft and feels fantastic in use! The cast aluminium body is pleasingly weighty and very sturdy. This thing is made to last. I definitely wouldn't want to drop it on my toe. The weight could be prohibitive for some but I love the added pressure it creates when using the wand. With normal use/not a lot of pressure, the vibrations stay in the head and don't travel into the handle. However, there are few things that let it down slightly. The first is that the motor struggles against pressure and the vibrations then move down into the handle. Secondly, it has a smaller range of intensities. Lastly, the battery life is only 60 minutes, which is pretty short compared to the 4 hour charge time, but I guess that's the price you pay for power! Although the head is rigid, the silicone covering it is buttery soft and feels fantastic in use! The Die Cast R comes with a 2-year warranty but you need to remember to activate it within 30 days of buying the wand for it to be valid.
Price

The Doxy Die Cast R is expensive. Whether it's worth it for you depends on a few things. If you want a powerful, heavy, no messing around wand and you specifically want it to be cord free, I do think it's a great option. As well as the extreme power, I also think you are paying for the general vibe. It feels incredibly luxurious and the metal body is heavy and dominating. That being said, if I had to choose between the corded and rechargeable version, I would go with the corded one. It has a wider range of intensities and a little more oomph to it that makes it just magical!
Performance

The Doxy's vibrations feel fantastic, there's no doubt about it. And it is powerful. Even the lowest setting is intense. It feels buzzier than the plug in version, but combined with the added weight, the stimulation still penetrates deeply and always leaves me satisfied. It has one pulse setting, but that's not really my jam so it doesn't get used, and I'm totally fine with there being no other pattern settings. It doesn't get hot during use, the battery lasts well, and it's quieter than the plug in version. It doesn't have the same power as the plug in, but I can still see myself using it regularly for the convenience it offers, especially during partnered sex.
Packaging

The Doxy Die Cast R comes packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with a card sleeve around it. The packaging is very tasteful and shows the wand on the front with some general information on the rest of the sleeve. The box had a thin plastic covering but apart from that, the packaging was minimal and made from cardboard. It doesn't come with an instruction booklet, just a QR code, which I actually appreciate as instruction documents are usually recycled straight away.
Materials and care

This wand vibrator is an absolute machine! The body is made of cast aluminium and feels strong and heavy. The head is has a lovely smooth silicone cap. It's not waterproof so you need to be careful not to get it wet when cleaning it. You can remove the silicone cover on the head for cleaning, but I prefer not to as I don't want to risk damaging it. I prefer to use a cloth and soap. It doesn't come with a storage bag and is rather large so you'll need to find your own storage solution.
