A Matching Set

Since I already own the Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Under Mattress Restraint Set, I volunteered to test out the Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash so I could have a matching set! I really liked the reversible design from the cuffs on the restraint set, so I was expecting be equally as impressed by this collar. It works exactly the same but I was immediately discouraged to see how the leash itself looked a bit underwhelming. It’s quite slim, basic and looks pretty dainty. It definitely doesn’t match the sturdiness of the collar itself. A thick and wide faux leather collar with a buckle fastening can withstand quite a good amount of tugging and pulling, but the leash seemed like it couldn’t keep up with too much force. I know that collars generally shouldn’t be used for hardcore tugging and pulling, but the mismatch in durability seems a bit off to me.

Design

The Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash has a really cool design feature that lets you choose between two looks. To be completely honest, I've never really been a fan of the glossy red rose print, so I very much appreciate being able to reverse the design. However, the leash is black on one side and has the print on the other. Therefore, it's impossible to avoid that red print regardless of how you reverse the collar. The leash also looks a bit flimsy compared to the sturdy collar.

Ease of Use

The Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash is fairly easy to use. The most complicated part is reversing the collar but once you've learned how, it's pretty easy to do! I will say that the width and firmness of the collar itself makes it quite restrictive to wear. This can be off-putting especially for beginners who might need a bit more neck movement.

Quality

The Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash looks like a decent quality piece at first glance. But upon further use, I've noticed some imperfections in the seams of the faux leather. Again, the leash itself looks a bit flimsy. I don't see this collar and leash being very durable or long-lasting since it doesn't seem like it would withstand more intense tugging and pulling.

Price

I think the Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash is quite overpriced for what it is. I'm not blown away by the quality or the design (even though that's mostly a personal preference), and I just think there are better options available at a cheaper price. It's clear that you're paying for the brand.

Performance

The Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash performed just fine but I was a bit underwhelmed. It was very pleasant to wear for extended periods of time and I was worried that the leash itself may have snapped during more intense tugging. That said, the collar definitely performs well as a sturdy collar that restricts neck movement and has a secure fastening.

Packaging

The packaging for the Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash is very minimalistic. Other than the branding, you wouldn't necessarily know what was inside. It comes in this slim paper bag inside of the included satin-y storage bag. The storage bag is a nice touch, although it's so long and almost difficult to store in itself. You're meant to store the collar when it's undone so it can slide into this very slim storage bag. It's not a huge deal but I definitely find this to be a little impractical so I usually end up storing it without the bag.

Materials and care

The Fifty Shades of Grey Sweet Anticipation Collar & Leash is made of faux leather and nickel-free metal hardware. While it isn't fully waterproof, you can wipe it down with a damp cloth for cleaning. Although, since the surface of the faux leather easily makes the skin sweaty, I wish there was a way to clean it more thoroughly.
