Lelo Ora 3 — Test & Review
My Verdict
The Lelo Ora 3 has left me feeling torn! It can be frustrating to use, which is usually a total turn-off for me when it comes to sex toys. But, something about the firm, precise stimulation it provides — a great combination of manual movement and rumbly vibrations — keeps calling me back for another try. I'm willing to keep experimenting with it and finding new ways to make it feel pleasurable. However, I completely understand that many people will not be, especially when you take the price tag into account.

Personal Experience
I’m going to be totally honest with you, I chose to review the Lelo Ora 3 because Isabelle tested the Lora Dicarlo Filare, another ‘tongue simulator’, before me and I was jealous. There aren’t that many vulva-owners in this world who don’t love oral sex, and I count myself among the majority. That’s why I’ve been dying to try out one of the many oral sex simulating toys on the market today!
A Learning Curve
I went into testing the Ora 3 with very few expectations and a lot of curiosity. The first time I turned it on, the nub whirred into action and the vibrations started up at full power! It was a bit intimidating, and I had to turn down the intensity before it even made contact with my body. Really, who designs a sex toy that starts off on maximum intensity? It took me a good while to figure out how to best hold the toy — the placement of the handle is a bit bizarre and means it’s angled in a way that doesn’t hit my clit at all. But, once I held onto the outside, I found the right spot and it felt really good! I enjoy very precise, firm stimulation, and the nub did add something to grind against. Unfortunately, though, my lubed-up fingers couldn’t keep it in place for long, and it drifted away from my clit pretty soon after.Does It Really Feel Like Oral?
Uh, no. Unless you’ve received oral sex from a literal robot, the sensations of the Lelo Ora 3 really won’t be comparable. The nub isn’t squishy, it’s hard and unyielding — great for firm stimulation, but nothing like a tongue. It also doesn’t lick, it rotates. That’s why, for me, the vibrations really saved this toy. Without them, I didn’t feel much of anything, but with them turned on, the nub really added to the experience and gave me some pinpoint clit stimulation. Once you let go of the expectation of a perfect simulation of cunnilingus, the Ora 3 can feel pretty great!Design
The Ora 3's design has all the luxurious hallmarks of a Lelo sex toy. The colorful silicone (it comes in three jewel tone colors) and gold accents do a lot of the work making this toy seem really fancy, and I do quite enjoy the look. The circular design is certainly different from many other vibrators, but I don't think it's works as well as they'd hoped. It can feel a little awkward to place and hold, and the handle doesn't feel like it's in the right place at all (though, more on that below). Then, there's the 'tongue' nub, which definitely looks like a little alien trying to get out from under its silicone prison!
Ease of Use
The Lelo Ora 3 took a little time to learn how to use, but, in the end, I thought it was fairly easy. I started off with my fingers in the loop handle, but realized that then the 'tongue' nub wasn't in the right place at all. I fiddled about for a good while before I realized that I had to hold it on the outside instead to get the positioning right. This was fine for me, but might not be possible for those with grip issues. The buttons were still pretty easy to use, as they're raised and textured, but I wish you didn't have to cycle through every single setting. Plus, why does it start off on the highest setting?
Quality
I have quite a collection of Lelo toys at this point, and they all feel very high-quality. The Lelo Ora 3 is just the same — silky silicone, solid construction, and zero problems when operating. While I'm not sure that the Lelo Ora 3's 'oral sex simulation' technology does exactly what they say it does, it does still function very well!
Price
Retailing at somewhere around $170-$180, the Lelo Ora 3 is pretty dang expensive, even for a high-quality vibrator. It is, of course, different than your everyday, run-of-the-mill clitoral vibrator — it uses unique and advanced technology alongside its powerful motor — but, for me, that price tag is still eye-watering. Since the sensations are really a matter of taste, it's hard to tell you whether it's 'worth it' or not, but I would recommend researching it thoroughly first, and knowing what you like and don't like, before you take the plunge.
Performance
Using the Lelo Ora 3 has been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions! I started off thinking that it just wasn't well-designed, then found the right angle and really liked it, but I see it as a bit of a mixed bag. It does have strong and fairly rumbly vibrations, which I love! Those, combined with a bit of the mechanical movement of the nub make for some nice, precise and firm stimulation, which is perfect for me. However, it can be really hard to find that spot, and I had a lot of frustration along the way. Plus, it really doesn't feel anything like oral sex!
Packaging
Is it spoiled of me to say that I'm kind of over Lelo's packaging? Almost certainly, but it's still true. The Ora 3 comes in a matte black box with plastic window that shows you the toy nestled in some black foam. Inside, you'll also find a silky storage pouch, a little packet of lube, a USB charging cable, some basic instructions and a warranty card. The gold accents are nice and add a little touch of luxury, but this packaging is definitely not something I feel bad about throwing away. Well, apart from the fact that it creates more plastic waste.
Materials and care
The Lelo Ora 3 is made from high-quality silicone that feels super smooth and silky to the touch. The gold accents are made from ABS plastic, but they don't feel flimsy or breakable like other hard plastic can do. Both of these materials are non-porous and body-safe, and the Ora 3 is 100% waterproof so it's quite easy to clean. All you need is some mild, unscented soap and water. Lather it up well and make sure to get into all the crevices where the plastic and silicone meet, as well as the softer silicone around the nub. Then, leave to air dry before placing it back in its accompanying storage pouch.
