How Do the Lovense Max and Nora Interact?
There are three different ways to connect Max and Nora. The first is Live Control, where you are given the controls over your partner’s toy (or the other way around). You can fine-tune the vibrations and other functions, or set them to patterns, giving them a totally hands-free experience.
The second way is by Syncing up your toys. In this mode, you’ll be able to control both your and your partner’s toys at the same time. Moving the vibration slider up, for example, will make the vibrations on both toys increase, so you can share the sensations together.
Finally, you have the setting that makes Max and Nora special. The Long Distance Sex sync mode can only be used by the Lovense Max, Max 2, and Nora. With it, you can control the functions of your partner’s toy through your movements alone. As you thrust your masturbator or rabbit vibrator, it translates your motions into vibrations, contractions, or rotations on your partner’s toy. Pretty magic, right?
How Do I Connect the Max 2 and Nora?
While there are instructions available on Lovense’s website on how to connect Max and Nora, they’re pretty hidden, and pretty opaque, too. That’s why I’ve put together a step-by-step guide to take you through the whole process.
First off, you’ll need to each have a Max or Nora to connect. You can buy them separately, or as a set from Lovense.com. Each of you should download the Lovense Remote app on your smartphone. It’s the one with the blue icon, not Lovense Connect, which has a pink icon. You’ll also both have to make a Lovense account in order to connect with each other.
Then, you should each pair your toy with your phone via Bluetooth, if you haven’t already.
Press and hold the On/Off button on Nora or Max to turn it on. A light will flash on the toy to show it’s on and ready to pair. Then, press the link button at the top of the home page in the app, and then ‘Add Toy’, which will start it search. Once you see your toy appear, tap ‘Done’. The light on the toy will stop flashing and stay on to show that it’s been paired. You should only have to do this once.
If this is your first time connecting to each other with the app, you’ll have to add each other as friends to be able to play.
Go to the ‘Long Distance’ tab, press +, and then ‘Add People’, where you can search for their username and send a friend request. Again, you should only have to do this once, and when you’re connected, you’ll see a chat appear for you both.
Open the chat between you and your partner, then press + at the bottom and then ‘Sync’. This will send a request to your partner to sync your Max and Nora together. Once they accept it, your toys will sync together!
It will start off in ‘Mirror’ mode, where you can control both toys at the same time. Move around the pink circle to activate vibrations for both toys, the blue to activate Nora’s rotating shaft, and the purple to activate the contraction on the Max/Max 2. Pressing the ‘Controlling’ button will allow you to change who’s in the driver’s seat, and selecting ‘Patterns’ will allow you to choose patterns for one or both of the toys to follow.
What’s special about Max and Nora in particular is the Long Distance Sex mode. You’ll find it next to the Mirror mode. It will start off automatically with both toys’ movements controlling the other, but you can also choose one-way controls, too.
If the functions are being set off too much or too little by the movements of your partner, try playing around with the sensitivity level of your Max or Nora by moving the slider at the bottom of the screen
How Does it Feel?
I’m sure that many of you, at this point, are wondering what it actually feels like to connect Max and Nora together. Or, perhaps you’re wondering if it actually works at all?
Well, luckily, I tested it out with my boyfriend! It was a bit weird for us, especially in the same house, but eventually figured out how to set it up and connect them (and get over our awkwardness).
First off, you should know that I don’t love the Lovense Nora. It’s a bit too big for me, and I don’t enjoy the rotating shaft so much, but I tried it again anyway in the name of science. Fortunately, my boyfriend tested the Max 2 out for Bedbible and likes it!
My Experience With the Nora
When we connected them using the Long Distance Sex function, I noticed the same problems as when I tried to sync its functions to music or my boyfriend’s voice. It’s so sensitive that it was immediately set off by even his smaller movements. Annoyingly, when I turned down the sensitivity slider, it didn’t seem to change much.
Furthermore, the rotations don’t seem to have the same range of intensity as the vibrations, so the shifts in speed weren’t nearly as noticeable. They turned on and off as he moved, but that didn’t feel particularly natural to me. In fact, none of it felt very natural at all.
His Experience With the Max 2
The Lovense Max 2, however, is a different story. There was lots of variation in the vibrations and contractions that really did get faster and slower as I moved the Nora. When I was moving the Nora slowly, the vibes in the Max 2 were low (but rumbly) and the contractions were intense but slow.
Then, as I got more into it, the contractions got faster and even more intense for him, which he loved! In fact, he had to turn the sensitivity slider down to avoid it being too much, but it was nice to know the slider actually worked for the Max.
It seems like the progression from slow to intense feels more natural in the Max than the Nora, making it way more enjoyable. Given our different experiences, perhaps the Long Distance Sex function would work better if you are two penis-owners both using Lovense Maxes?
Can the Max and Nora Connect With Other Lovense Toys?
Yes, but not in quite the same way.
All Lovense toys are able to connect with each other using the ‘Mirror’ sync mode in the app. That’s where you can move the icons to control the functions of both toys at once. However, the Long Distance Sex function, which allows your toy to respond to the movement of your partner’s toy, can only be used with the Max, Max 2, and Nora.
Interestingly, you don’t have to be using one Max and one Nora for the Long Distance Sex mode to work. You can actually connect two Maxes or two Noras this way, too. Similarly, you can connect one Max and one Max 2 and experience this unique connection together.
UPDATE: With the release of the new Lovense Calor masturbator, you can now use the Long Distance Sex function with the Max, Max 2, Nora and Calor.
About the Lovense Max and Max 2
The Lovense Max was the original masturbator from the interactive brand but is no longer available for purchase. Instead, you can find the Max 2, an upgraded vibrating masturbator with all the bells and whistles.
