Design

This Doxy had the silhouette of a classic bullet, at twice the size. The metal felt tantalizingly cool to the touch and beckoned exploration. A textured finish frosted the aluminum case, like a silvery winter. It resisted scuffs and fingerprints. The surface area, contours, and peaks allowed for variable stimulation. It was clean and sleek, but bulky. It came in two colors; the Silver was a little basic for my taste, but the Rose Gold was stunning!

Ease of Use

All functions were controlled using a single button at the base of the bullet. Holding it for 2 seconds powered the bullet on/off, and pressing it filtered through the 7 vibration modes. This was easy enough. However, passing the ideal mode required me to filter through all the settings again; and there was no memory chip to save my selected mode. Additionally, the button required somewhat firm, precise pressure to activate. Although the surface was textured, it still became slippery with enough lubricant. This may be frustrating for arthritic users.

Quality

Structurally, the Doxy Bullet felt as though it could have survived Pompeii. The adonized aluminum shell was thick, durable, and resistant to corrosion. It was, also, "fully waterproof." The waterproof rating wasn't specified on Doxy's website, but I noticed no drop in quality after submersion tests. While the vibration quality wasn't the best, the battery seemed fine. The battery's first charge took 3 hours, but only 110-minutes thereafter. It lasted 82 minutes on the 100% mode, and 120 minutes on 50%. After hours of testing, the bullet never overheated.

Price

The Doxy Bullet retailed for $64.99. Bullet vibrators can cost anywhere from $13-$89, which placed Doxy on the high-end. The package included the toy, USB charger, and a 2-year manufacturer's warranty (or 1-year warranty from certain retailers). Unfortunately, I wouldn't consider the Doxy Bullet to be worth the price. There was no storage bag, no travel-lock feature, and limited power. There are significantly more powerful bullets for a fraction of the price.

Performance

Doxy advertised this product as offering, "ultimate discretion," and, "powerful vibrations," at, "just a whisper." While bullets are certainly less conspicuous than a floppy dildo, Doxy's size wasn't exactly discreet. The vibrations were somewhat powerful, but not exceptionally so. And I'd challenge whoever called it, "whisper quiet," to power it up in a library. Additionally, it took 10 minutes longer to charge than the advertised hour and 40 minutes. That said, it was just as ergonomic and easy to handle as one could dream!

Packaging

The Doxy arrived in, perhaps, the most hygienic packaging I'd ever received. The box was sealed in shrink wrap, as was the cradle and the bullet itself. That's three separate layers of tamper resistance! Aesthetically, the package design was pretty basic: silver- like the bullet- printed with pertinent information about the toy. It was compact, so there was little waste once discarded; and an internal cradle provided protective support during transit.

Materials and care

As mentioned, the Doxy Bullet had an adonized aluminum shell and a silicone base. Those who are tidy with their lubricant application could use any type. Otherwise, water-based lubricant may be ideal to preserve the silicone base. A little lubricant went a long way, and washed from the sleek surface with ease. The fully waterproof feature made cleaning even easier; I just used toy cleanser and water. Then, I allowed it to fully dry before storing, and only charged the bullet using the provided USB charger. Again, there was no storage bag.
