Personal Experience

From the moment I opened the box, I loved this little guy! Its velvety soft texture, the firm but flexible contours — the ROMP Wave is clearly a well-designed toy. Very beginner-friendly, this would make a great first toy for someone only interested in clitoral stimulation. It’s discrete in style as well as sound, making it really convenient for dorm living or cramped roommate situations. The shape of the Romp Wave is neutral in design and useful for an array of genital shapes.

Testing it Out

Design

Emblazoned with a gold sticker stating 'Certified WOW' design: this vibrator is soft to the touch and is made of body-safe silicone that is firm without being rigid. A devotee to the Magic Wand, I was surprised just how sleek, lightweight, and comfortable this felt in the hand when opening it from its simple packaging. The ROMP Wave is quiet with a soft hum, and buzzy vibrations that cycle through 4 patterns and 6 intensities. Ready to be impressed it is also waterproof, only lacking in power the Romp Wave has charge life of 60 minute when used on the highest setting,

Ease of Use

There are two models of the ROMP Wave available, with instructions included for both — I happen to have the style with only one button. Just press and hold for 2 seconds to power on, then press and click to cycle through intensity and patterns. The button is flush to the device with indented circles to indicate where to press, I see pros and cons to this as it is not likely to get bumped and patterns changed unexpectedly but does make adjusting in the moment tricky once lube is involved.

Quality

Overall, this device has impressed me with its quality. With a price point below $50, I was expecting something that felt nearly disposable, but the velvety silicone and rechargeable vibrator were pleasant surprise. Its shape is well-designed and inspires creative uses for solo or partnered use. The versatility, matched with the price point make the Romp Wave a great addition for beginners and advanced toy collectors alike. I personally am excited to add it to my weekend bag — this little guy is only limited by a short battery life and your imagination.

Price

For $29, this toy is priced at exactly the right price point. Expensive enough to provide quality body safe materials and a rechargeable vibrator while still being cheap enough to make the short charge life and bullet quality vibrations forgivable. I can see this toy at home in dorm room, a go bag, or a couple's nightstand drawer. The waterproof feature tips the bang for your buck ratio firmly to 'worth it' territory.

Performance

Solo use was a little underwhelming for me. It was a discreet and relaxing addition to my full moon soak, but the short battery life meant the bath outlived the ROMP Wave. The vibrations are very buzzy, but while I personally prefer deep and rumbly, I did not find them off-putting. They were just a light, more tickly sensation. I could see the shape being beneficial to pillow humping and grinding methods of masturbation, or if you suffer from carpal tunnel, like myself, you will appreciate the contours and hands-free option. Unfortunately, for myself the highest setting still wasn't enough on its own. Partnered play is where the ROMP Wave really made a splash.

Packaging

The ROMP Wave comes in a compact, brightly colored box with a to-scale image of the vibrator on the front. It had 2 hygienic seals on each end that I had to break to be able to slide out the small plastic tray holding the vibrator, charger and instruction sheet. They also included a sheet of cute stickers, and the back of the instruction page doubles as a coloring page and poster. However, it doesn't come with a storage bag.

Materials and care

The ROMP Wave is bullet-style vibrator wrapped in sculpted body-safe silicone. The entire toy is waterproof, so it's easily maintained. Rinse under running water and wash with a mild, antibacterial soap. Alternatively, it can be sprayed with toy cleaner and wiped with a damp cloth. The material is velvety, so in my 2 cat 1 dog home it attracted hairs that stuck to the toy when I set on the bed, but these were easily removed with a damp cloth.
