LELO Sona 2 Travel Review
My Verdict
I love trying clitoral stimulators, especially a good clit sucker. While the LELO Sona 2 Travel is not my favorite, I need to cut it some slack! It's got a powerful motor, a pretty and sleek design, and a mouth opening that is on the larger end compared to similar toys. I like the LELO Sona 2 Travel, it's very fitting to the LELO brand and is on-par with the LELO luxury quality! At the end of the day, the LELO Sona 2 Travel is definitely NOT a toy I will be travelling with due to its loud motor. Plus, the buttons are hard to differentiate between the other making it hard for a fat person with hand/wrist mobility issues like me to get the most out of the options available. These two issues are pretty hard to look past, and so while the LELO Sona 2 Travel is a high-quality toy, I can't give a sparkling all-star review.

Get ready! Get set! GO, GO, GO!
The LELO Sona 2 Travel is a powerful little clit sucker that is going to one day vibrate my T-dick off my body with how strong and buzzy it is. From first turning on my Sona 2 Travel, I knew I was going to have a love/hate relationship with it. Listen, if you know me then you know my love for the We-Vibe Melt runs deep. I love clit suckers and clitoral stimulators and have been very picky about my preferences for them in the past. However, my Dame Com has been fast dwindling in its power (as it’s always in my nightstand) and the silicone keeps pulling away from the ABS plastic edged sections for the motor. This has me worried the toy isn’t waterproof anymore! So, I’ve been needing a new (purely) clit stim and the Sona 2 Travel is now the only one in my arsenal. Let me explain the love/hate relationship. Basically, this vibrator gives off high vibrations, very buzzy, and it has a very powerful motor. This is great in a lot of ways, since this toy is tiny and super lightweight. But, for a person who prefers deeper, rumblier, deep-tissue-massage-worthy vibrators, I get easily frustrated with toys like the LELO Sona 2 Travel. First, it kinda hurts whether or not I have lube involved. The vibrations are just so buzzy and so strong that I really do feel like my poor lil guy is gonna pop right off. Next, it’s loud. The Sona 2 Travel is meant to be whisper-quiet? I don’t know who decided to advertise the toy that way, but they were very wrong. And thus, the whole “travel” aspect of this toy, is pretty much null and void! When you travel, you want a quiet and discreet toy. Yes, the Sona 2 Travel is tiny, easy to hide, and super-duper light. However, the motor is so loud that I could hear through a wall and across two whole rooms. My New Gripe With LELO
LELO is fascinating, for better and for worse. These days, I’m starting to think that they aren’t this amazing, stellar, best-of-the-best company that I thought they were. I remember when I worked at a high-end adult store, and I drooled over the sleek boxes of the LELO toys behind the glass cases. I loved pulling them out and showing them to customers for an excuse to feel rich! But, now I’m realizing how hard it is to see the tiny, gold lettering on the back of the textured black box and also noticing how this LELO’s signature SenSonic™ technology is probably not as cool as they make it seem. This SenSonic tech is supposed to be sonic waves that are so strong you can feel the vibrations even when the toy isn’t pressed hard against your skin. Maybe other people got to witness this magic, but I sure as hell didn’t! Instead, it just makes me think of the WaveMotion™ technology I saw with the LELO Ina Wave 2, a toy that I rated very similarly to the Sona 2 Travel. I’ve been mentally comparing the LELO Sona 2 Travel and the Ina Wave 2, likely because I think that while LELO is seen as a luxury brand, it doesn’t seem to keep the diversity of body types in mind. What I found as an issue with the Ina Wave 2 was that the clitoral stimulating arm was a bad shape for my anatomy and wouldn’t stay where I needed it to get the stimulation I needed for pleasure. To me, it felt like the Ina Wave 2 had a very specific body type in mind for their users, and bodies like mine just aren’t included. Similarly, the Sona 2 Travel is tiny and light with a mouth opening that isn’t quite big enough for my anatomy. It’s like this toy isn’t quite accessible to my fat, trans body as it may be for other users with different body types. Maybe that’s just me, but seeing these issues between two of their toys makes me feel like LELO doesn’t care to have as much accessibility for diverse bodies. Maybe that’s just me, though! I’ve been pretty bitter about toy brands lately ever since I learned that Fun Factory was bought out. (R.I.P. to those beautiful quality, well-designed, amazing toys—I’m terrified to see what will become of them as they become more mass-produced!)Settling
As one does with some relationships, friendships, sexual partners—I believe I am settling for the LELO Sona 2 Travel. I do like this toy enough. I’ve had a lot of fun with it, both solo and with my partner. Soon, I want to try it in the bath and I plan to make a little spot for it in my nightstand. Even so, it’s far from being my favorite toy and I hope that I will find another clit stimulator soon that ticks all my boxes. For a hundred dollars, it’s not a vibe I would personally put my own money towards though I’m sure it’s someone else’s cup of tea!Design
I can always tell a toy is from LELO, their brand's style is iconic, sleek, and elegant. The silicone is soft to the touch and the ABS plastic adds a shiny and luxurious touch. I appreciate that with the LELO Sona 2 Travel being advertised as a travel-friendly toy, it's small! This clit stimulator fits on the palm of my hand and is so smooth and round that it feels easy to hold. However, I'll admit, this design isn't as comfortable in the moment as it means the buttons are harder to reach. Even so, that could just be me!
Ease of Use
Though the design makes this toy seem easy to use, I have some trouble with it! I appreciate there only being three buttons, however there are a lot of settings to skip through and it is very easy to click the wrong button, as they all feel the same. I've been finding myself repeatedly hitting the pattern button when I mean to click the power up or down, and then I'm left edged and having to skip through 12 different options to get to my favorite ones again. With that amount of patterns, I wish LELO would develop an app! Additionally, as I mentioned when discussing the design, it just doesn't work as well for my body type as it may for thinner, more flexible folks.
Quality
The quality of the LELO Sona 2 Travel is similar to that of many other LELO toys. Even so, after working with LELO toys at a previous job as well as having tested one other, this feels cheaper than other LELO vibes. While I love how lightweight the Sona 2 Travel is, this aspect as well as the fact the silicone seems to already be coming apart from the shiny plastic backing, gives the essence of a toy you could buy at Spencer's instead of it being the high-end luxury toy it should be. Plus, the Sona 2 Travel is LOUD. This toy is not one I would use to travel unless I know that the walls of wherever I'd be staying in are thick, because I could hear this vibrator from across two bedrooms in my house.
Price
For a clitoral stimulator, and a LELO toy at that, this is a fairy affordable option. What you get, is the Sona 2 Travel itself, a charger, a good-quality satin toy bag, a manual, an ad for a giveaway, and a warranty card. The WeVibe Melt is my favorite clit stimulator ever, and that is over twice the cost of the LELO Sona 2. I would put this toy on par with the Satisfyer Pro 2, though with the Satisfyer you get more fun items in the box and it's half the price. This is not me promoting Satisfyer by any means, though it's just to inform folks that the LELO Sona 2 Travel is an okay toy and won't necessarily break the bank!
Performance
I was intrigued by the "sonic wave stimulation" that LELO advertises, as they describe the suction and motor of this toy being powerful enough that it doesn't need to be touching your skin directly for you to feel the effects of it. I, personally, did not find this being a possibility. I had to have the mouth directly against my body, and often pressing fairly hard, to feel it. I don't care for buzzy vibrations, I'm much more of a fan for vibrators that make my pelvis shake a little with how deep the vibrations hit (I'm exaggerating, but only slightly). Despite that, this toy still performs and it's one I'm sure I'll find myself using fairly often, as it's a good size to be able to rest between me and my partner and the vibrations will lead to a nice climax. What I love most is the battery life, two hours running and 90 days standby is pretty incredible.
Packaging
While I often associate the packing of LELO toys with luxury, I'm now realizing how hard it is to read the back of the packing, where most of the information on the toys is. I don't understand why they manual in the box tells buyers to go online and look at full manuals and information to get the most out of the toy, because the same information on the back is what you'll find online. However, the information on the back is so hard to read for someone with bad eyes like me that I had to go online to learn more about this toy! It's frustrating. Don't get me wrong, it's sleek and pretty, but nowadays I have trouble enjoying it. At the end of the day, I appreciate the style and love that the toy bag is good quality!
Materials and care
The LELO Sona 2 Travel is made of body-safe platinum-grade silicone and ABS plastic, leading to an easy-to-clean experience. It also helps that this toy is totally waterproof as well, so no need to worry about avoiding the charger hole. Just run the toy under some warm water and clean with unscented soap and you're good to go. Plus, all LELO toys come with a sleek, satin toy bag to keep your toy clean when not in use!
