Why I Chose It
I love these Leather Handcuffs from Bondage Boutique! They look the part, they play the part and they are just an all-round solid pair of handcuffs!
Peter and his partner tested them for us and gave them a perfect score of 5/5! They loved that the cuffs had a “a nice comfy fit and feel” and that the leather and metal design gives them “a luxurious look and finish.” They did note that the leather feels “slightly stiff” but “softens up with time,” and this is totally normal in my experience!
They were pleasantly surprised by the low price considering the “quality of the product is high and the materials used are not a cheap.”
Although these sex cuffs only come with one double ended clip, the D-rings mean you can attach your own restraints, and Peter found they worked well with his spreader bar.
As these cuff fasten with a buckle, I would go for them as my first set of restraints, but I would love a pair for more heavy duty bondage!

I think the Quickie Cuffs are a very simple but pretty smart design that’s just perfect for beginners! I know it can feel pretty scary to have your hands locked up, but with these, you can experience the thrill of restraint while still being able to escape!
Our tester, Rachel, was a bondage newbie when she tried reviewed the Quickie Cuffs and “ended up liking [them] way more than [she] was expecting to.” Her and her partner really liked that they were “easy and approachable.”
When I first saw them, I thought they would be too stretchy to provide satisfying restraint, but Rachel discovered that they “don’t have a lot of stretch to them, so […] you can tell they’re not going to fall off.”
While I wouldn’t use these for every day bondage because I prefer something a little more secure, I could see myself throwing them in a bag for some fun on vacation!
The only downside Rachel came across was there wasn’t an easy way to attach the cuffs to other restraint points.

I like that you don’t need to spend a lot to get a really decent set of handcuffs that will get the job done! I think these soft cuffs from Bondage Boutique are going to satisfy most needs and are a real steal at well under $20!
Edie, who’s got more than 30 years of sex toy experience under belt, tried them out and gave them her seal of approval! She loved that they were “comfortable, breathable, and don’t leave any bruises or marks on [her] wrist.”
As they are velcro, I would recommend these to anyone looking for their first pair of handcuffs, but Edie also found they were “surprisingly secure” even when “pulling, wiggling and struggling.”
Another nice feature is that the metal clips “swivel so they don’t get stuck.”
In my experience with these kinds of sex cuffs, they aren’t as durable as stronger materials like leather or metal, so they aren’t good for hardcore bondage, however, they are great for light bondage and occasional use.

Why I Chose It
I love cute and kinky BDSM accessories, and I think the Sex & Mischief Brat Locking Cuffs are just the perfect combination of elegance and sturdiness. I especially like the rose gold touches and the faux leather, as I often opt for vegan-friendly accessories. The reason why I picked them as my Expert Pick is the use of soft, yet sturdy material, additional D-rings for bondage play, and the unique locking feature.
Our tester, Ashley, who tested the Brat Locking Cuffs highlighted how comfortable they are: “Inside of the cuffs feels felted, making them even more comfortable!” She also pointed out that these handcuffs are adjustable and easy to use. What she loved the most about them was the rose gold design and the addition of the chain: “The chain was very easy to disconnect when needed, and it slides right back on to reconnect the cuffs.” I agree that the detachable chain is pretty cool, I think this is a great feature that adds a lot of versatility to your play.
One feature that she wasn’t so impressed with was the locking feature. She compared the locks to those you often see with “secret diaries for teenagers,” which might not sound appealing if you are looking for real BDSM handcuffs. Overall, I personally don’t mind the lower quality of the locks, as these handcuffs are pretty affordable. I like how versatile, and cute they are, and I would be much more excited to explore bondage play if I had a pretty pair of handcuffs like these. Why I Chose It
I think metal handcuffs like these are the quintessential sexy handcuffs that spring to mind for many people. They aren’t as comfy and maybe not quite as versatile as separate cuffs but they do have a very naughty vibe to them! On top of that, the cold metal can add an extra thrill as it hits your skin, helping to set the mood!
Kasia tried them out with her partner and thought the overall “quality is great,” especially for “those new to bondage [or] roleplaying.”
She found that “they are lightweight, easy to adjust, and the lock works smoothly” but she did find herself wanting “something weighty, sturdy, and more serious.” With that in mind, I wouldn’t choose these for more intense bondage but instead as a fun accessory for a particular look.
Kasia, did “really like the shiny silver look with the Fifty Shades of Grey branding engraved” that was a nice change from the usual black leather or fabric cuffs.

Why I Chose It
I love getting creative with bondage positions so wanted to include some handcuffs for sex that moved beyond the bed, while still being super accessible! I love just how easy these cuffs are to use and that they can be use with any closing door.
Cassie and her partner had fun trying them out and she loved having “a much more versatile playground at [her] disposal.” She even discovered that they “can even be used under the door to secure your ankles” for even more ways to play!
She also appreciated that they are “super affordable, very easy to use, ideal for bringing with you on the go.” She was a little concerned that they don’t feel the highest quality but found that “during use they actually are quite durable” and that the “velboa fabric feels super soft on the skin.”
The main drawback in these cuffs is that you can’t adjust the length of the restraint, so while they will fit most people and doors, if you are particularly tall or short or have very high doors, I recommend measuring to make sure they will work.

Here are the different types and what they are good for!
- Silicone handcuffs — These handcuffs are two silicone loops that are joined in the middle and stretch over your wrists. They are easy to remove yourself, making them perfect for beginners.
- Silk handcuffs — These soft handcuffs slip over your wrist and can be used to tie your partner to the bed, a chair or other restraint points.
- Velcro handcuffs — Velcro fastening cuffs makes it easy to get exactly the right fit, and they are easy to get on and off. Velcro restraints are also easy to escape so are best for beginners or light bondage.
- Metal handcuffs — These are more like the traditional police cuffs and tend to have a lock mechanism and quick release lever. They are more uncomfortable than fabric or rope cuffs as the metal can dig in to your wrists.
- Fuzzy Handcuffs — These are the same as metal cuffs with the addition of a faux fur sleeve that wraps around the cuff.
- Buckle Fastening Handcuffs — Cuffs with buckles are better suited to more experienced bondage players as they are much more difficult to get out of.
- Rope — Rope cuffs can be pre-made or you can make your own using bondage rope.
What to Consider
Bondage cuffs themselves are fairly straightforward items, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few things you should consider before deciding on a set. Keep these specifications in mind while searching so you can get the perfect cuffs for you the first time!
- Size – Many bondage cuffs are adjustable, but that doesn’t mean they’ll fit everyone. You should make sure your wrists will fit into the cuffs by measuring them and comparing your measurements to the manufacturer’s specifications. If you’re planning on using cuffs on your ankles then you’ll want to measure those as well. Although it’s possible to find a pair that will fit both, you might find having two pairs is more exciting!
- Material – This comes down to personal preference. Remember, the material you choose will be restraining your wrists so if you prefer a more “gentle” experience, metal might not be the best choice. Fortunately, there are plenty of softer materials like silicone, leather, or faux leather to choose from! The material used will also control the amount of “give” your cuffs have so it’s definitely a factor putting some thought into.
- Fastening – How rough are you planning to be in these cuffs? If you’re mainly planning on using them for some light bondage with your partner then stretchy silicone cuffs could be a suitable option. For a more secure fit, velcro straps or ropes are an option. However, if you want to be unable to remove the cuffs yourself, we’d recommend considering cuffs with belt-style straps or metal handcuffs.
