The Dame Eva: Unveiling My Experience

I’ve been wanting to try the Dame Eva for a loooong time, ever since I first read about it. It’s one of those stories that restores my faith in the sex toy industry — two smart, professional women set out to create a sex toy that closes the orgasm gap and gives vulva-owners the pleasure they deserve, which ends up being the most crowdfunded sex toy in history! However, this little vibrator has turned out to be quite controversial. Whilst some praise it as being their saving grace, or even “an act of feminism” (as one reviewer called it), others have been left disappointed by its performance.

How it’s designed

The Dame Eva, as you might have already noticed, looks a bit different than most other vibrators! I think it looks a bit like a little crab, while a colleague called it "a hug"! The front of the Eva is smooth, whilst the back (the bit that sits against your clit) has a ridge in the center. Then, there are the two 'wings' on either side, which are flexible and springy. At less than 2" tall, this vibrator is also very small!

The Usability of the Dame Eva

I was expecting the Dame Eva to be really difficult to put in place, but it actually stayed put without too much trouble. I did have to make sure to wipe off any excess lube around my labia before I tried it, though. It only has three vibration settings, which are controlled by a button at the top. It's very simple to control, but actually pressing the button when the Eva is in position can be tricky. Since you have to use a bit of force to press it down, it often moves the Eva out of place, too.

Analyzing the Quality of the Dame Eva

While the Dame Eva doesn't exactly feel cheap, it's not the most luxurious vibrator either. It's made from all-over medical-grade silicone, which feels soft and silky to the touch. However, when you move it around, it does feel a little rattly inside. I do appreciate, though, that it comes with its own charging case and storage bag, giving you two ways to store it safely.

A Closer Look at the Dame Eva’s Price Tag

I just can't figure out why the Eva is so expensive! It's the priciest vibrator made by Dame, but, in my opinion, it's not their best. The motor is incredibly buzzy, and not intensely strong. The design, of course, is very unique, but Dame have been making this toy for a while at this point — surely they're manufacturing it in large enough batches to lower the price a bit? I would say that, if you really want a small hands-free vibrator to use during sex, it could be worth it. But, if you want to use it as a panty vibrator or for solo use, I would perhaps go for something else.

Does it Deliver on Pleasure?

As I've mentioned, the Dame Eva is very, very buzzy. At the lowest setting, it felt too tickly for me, so I stuck to the highest setting, which was strong enough to feel pleasurable. However, at the highest speed, the battery life of the Eva is only one hour. Charging takes four hours in its little inductive charging case, and there's supposed to be an LED indicator to show you when it's charged. Unfortunately, though, I couldn't see it clearly.

Packaging

All of Dame's packaging is really up my alley. The box that the Eva comes in is simple, clean and not too 'girly', and inside is a plain pink box with the Dame logo barely visible. This could be a nice, discreet way to keep the charging case, cable and storage bag together if you so wish. Also in the box, you get a set of instructions and a sticker, which is now stuck proudly on my laptop.

Reviewing the Material Choices and Care Guidelines

The Dame Eva is covered in 100% medical-grade silicone. This means that it meets strict safety standards set by the FDA — the same as those required for medical products used inside the body. It's non-toxic, non-porous, and completely waterproof. While the main body contains a motor, the 'wings' of the Eva are just silicone, with no posable wires inside. Because it's waterproof, this toy is super easy to clean. Just lather it up with a mild, unscented soap and some water, making sure to get into all the crevices, before rinsing and leaving to dry before storing away in the charging case or storage pouch.
