Test Winner Lovehoney Curved 7" Suction Cup Dildo
- Flexible silicone dildo with a strong suction cup base
- Curved shaft with a for enhanced g-spot or p-spot stimulation
- Small hole in the base can fit a bullet vibrator for added vibrations (bullet vibrator not included).
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ High-quality silicone
- ✅ Easy to clean and sterilize
- ✅ Extremely versatile
- ✅ Beginner-friendly but entertaining for experienced users as well
Cons
- ❌ The flexibility means that it doesn't provide a super firm internal massage
- ❌ Suction cup strength can be a bit unreliable
Why I Chose It
I picked out the Lovehoney Curved Suction Cup Dildo as the Test Winner of this review because it’s a great all-rounder. It combines quality materials, ergonomic design, and ease of use in one easily accessible (and affordable) product. It may look very simple but it offers more than meets the eye. Our tester, Ashley, was also a bit skeptical at first:
“My first impression of the Lovehoney Curved 7″ Silicone Suction Cup Dildo was a little underwhelming at first. It didn’t look like much, and I wasn’t sure what to think about it. After using it however, I changed my mind pretty quick!”
It’s a great dildo for beginners because of the slim shape and diameter of 1.5 at the widest point. It’s also super flexible which makes it seem a lot less intimidating to complete beginners. While it isn’t the slimmest dildo on this list, it’s the kind of dildo you can grow with as you get more and more comfortable with penetrative play.
One of the reasons why it can be entertaining for intermediate users as well is the versatility. The flared suction cup base allows you to use it for anal penetration (and prostate stimulation), strap-on play, and for vigorous hands-free riding! The cherry on top? The small space for a bullet vibrator really amps up the pleasure you get to experience with this dildo. I know that most basic silicone dildos don’t offer this feature. It’s a minor detail but it make a lot of difference for those wanting to explore internal vibrations. According to the online reviews on Lovehoney, the vibrations also travel pretty well through the silicone which isn’t always the case with poorer quality silicone dildos.
Runner-Up Tantus Charmer Silicone G-Spot and P-Spot Dildo
- Uniquely ridged dildo for varied stimulation during penetration
- Flared base makes it suitable for anal play and using with a strap-on harness
- Tapered tip allows for easy insertion.
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Beautiful metallic lavender color
- ✅ Flexible and comfortable
- ✅ Ridges are easy to clean
Cons
- ❌ No suction cup
- ❌ Lack of colour options
Why I Chose It
The Tantus Charmer is a fantastic choice for beginners. I picked it out as the runner-up to our Test Winner because the slim, tapered shaft makes it super easy and comfortable to insert, which is perfect if you’re just starting out. While the narrower base might not give you that full feeling when using it vaginally, it’s great for targeted G-spot stimulation with its tip.
Having tried a Tantus dildo myself (the Tantus Cush), I know that they always deliver on high-quality silicone and generally feel very comfortable to use. The Charmer is no exception—it feels soft, body-safe, and just really nice to use.
Our tester, Isabelle, actually preferred using is an anal dildo because “the ridges have the slight feel of anal beads, as the shaft is inserted but not as intense, and they add some subtle stimulation while the toy is inside as well.” I think these ridges make the Charmer stand out compared to other beginner-friendly dildos. This is a beginner-friendly dildo that offers a little extra stimulation during thrusting but doesn’t have an overwhelming texture.
I would have loved if the base featured a suction cup. In my book, dildos should always have a suction cup base! It just makes solo play that much more fun. Luckily, you can still use this dildo in a strap-on harness and for safe anal play.
Budget-Friendly Lovehoney Slimline G-Spot Sensual Glass Dildo
- Smooth glass dildo with a slim diameter
- Made of shatter-resistant borosilicate glass
- Double-ended design allows you to experiment with two different shapes and sizes
- Comes with a velvety draw-string storage bag.
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ The firm glass is amazing for deep internal massage
- ✅ Super smooth and frictionless glide
- ✅ Compatible with all types of lube
- ✅ Anal safe
- ✅ Great for temperature play
Cons
- ❌ Could be too firm or stiff for some
- ❌ Must be handled with care
Why I Chose It
The Lovehoney Slimline G-Spot Sensual Glass Dildo is my budget-friendly pick for this round-up review. Out of all the best beginner-friendly dildos out there, I simply couldn’t resist including a slim glass dildo to the mix. As an avid dildo user, I wholeheartedly recommend trying out a glass dildo – yes, even as a beginner! For those who are completely new to penetration, it may be a lot more intimidating than a flexible silicone dildo. But if you, like me, absolutely love manual g-spot or a-spot stimulation, a glass dildo like this will change your life.
First of all, glass is just an amazing material for insertable sex toys. It’s non-porous, easy to clean, and can be fully sterilized. It can be used with all kinds of lube, so if you want to use it for anal penetration you can still use a nice, thick silicone lube. It’s super temperature responsive and ideal for playing around with hot and cold sensations. Last but not least, the firmness is perfect for some intense internal massage. I personally love all the benefits that glass offers. It may not be as flexible and “lifelike” as silicone, but the pros outweigh the cons for me!
The double-ended design also let’s you experience different penetration sensations in one toy! Even though you won’t be able to use it in a harness, it offers more versatility for solo play. The curved tip is designed for optimal g-spot, a-spot, and even prostate massage.
In terms of price, Ashley, who tested this dildo, found that this dildo was a total steal since you get a pretty versatile dildo with a nice storage bag included! Most of the glass dildos that I have don’t actually come with storage bags (which does make it difficult to keep them safe from shattering, in my opinion) so that’s a big plus for such a low price.
Expert Pick Biird Cecii Glass Dildo
- Iridescent glass dildo with a rainbow hue
- Tapered tip and gradually increasing girth with a beaded handle
- Made of shatter-resistant borosilicate glass
- Comes with a faux leather zip-up storage bag.
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Super smooth surface with zero texture or friction
- ✅ Very easy to use and provides a firm grip
- ✅ Great for temperature play
- ✅ Storage case is sturdy and high quality
Cons
- ❌ Doesn't target specific internal erogenous zones
Why I Chose It
I chose to include the Biird Cecii as my Expert Pick because I personally love most Biird products. They look and feel super elegant and luxurious but are surprisingly affordable! I am partial to glass dildos and I think this one is a perfect example of a glass dildo for beginners.
The slim diameter paired with a tapered tip and a gradually increasing girth makes insertion super easy and comfortable. The beaded end works beautifully as a handle so it’s also pretty easy to hold on to (even when there’s lube involved!).
Our tester, Isabelle, absolutely loved the design of the Biird Cecii. Still, it was just “mesmerizingly beautiful”, it also feels fantastic to use:
“Internally, it wasn’t the most filling or highly stimulating but it still felt really great. I also loved how the smooth glass felt externally on my clitoris and labia. Compared to other dildos, this one felt more sensual!”
The zip-up storage case is also next level and really helps keep your glass dildo safe since it’s so sturdy and has an elastic to keep it securely in there. This makes it a great travel-friendly option as well.
Most Realistic Blush Neo Elite 7.5″ Dual Density Dildo
- Realistic silicone dildo with pronounced veins and glans for a lifelike feel
- Suction cup base
- Dual density design features a solid core and a soft outer layer of silicone.
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Soft and flexible silicone that's super comfortable for newbies
- ✅ Size is a perfect medium that isn't intimidating but still satisfying
- ✅ Strong suction cup base
Cons
- ❌ Isn't great for firm internal massage
- ❌ The hyper-realistic design adds some texture to the trusting experience
Why I Chose It
I chose to include the Blush Neo Elite 7.5″ Dual Density Dildo in this review because it’s one of the overall best realistic dildos for beginners out there. Now, in terms of the design, I’ve definitely seen more realistically detailed dildos (like the Vixen Johnny). Although, for the low price it’s available at, I think the details are still well made. The veins and the head also add some nice texture to the experience. This obviously isn’t ideal for those who prefer a completely smooth shaft.
Now, there are a lot of realistic dildos for beginners out there, but I picked out this one because it’s a dual density dildo. The solid core with the squishy exterior adds a different layer of realism that regular silicone dildo can’t deliver. After having tried a few dual density dildos myself, I’m never going back. They just feel a lot more lifelike! However, our tester, Alice, did have one note on this:
“As a small point of personal preference, I did occasionally feel as though the dual density feature of this dildo, which feels so nice on the skin and is a fantastic quality, left me with the sensation that the penis I had inside of me was a bit flaccid. I usually prefer a sturdier dildo, but that didn’t deter my enjoyment of the Blush Neo Elite 7.5″ Dual Density Dildo.”
I imagine that this sensation comes from the fact that this is a slimmer dildo. Either way, it’s something to keep in mind if you know that a firmer sensation is what you need. Still, this one offers a lot of versatility.
“I used the Blush Neo Elite 7.5″ Dual Density Dildo in a number of ways, and each of them worked wonderfully. This is a high-performance dildo with many useful applications, and I highly recommend not only this product, but creatively exploring what this product can do for you!”.
Most Adjustable Fun Factory Limba Flex M
- Adjustable shaft allows you to customize your dildo experience
- Suction cup base
- Very tapered tip makes for easy insertion (and ideal for anal adventures).
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Poseable feature offers versatile use
- ✅ Non-representational design
- ✅ Great for both solo play and partnered fun
- ✅ Suction cup base is extremely powerful
Cons
- ❌ Tapered tip isn't ideal for deep internal massage
- ❌ Dust and lint tends to stick to the surface
Why I Chose It
This unique toy deserves a spot on any ‘best dildos for beginners’ list. I love all that the Fun Factory Limba Flex M has to offer. While it definitely is on the pricier side when it comes to beginner-dildos, I really think it’s worth splurging on!
An adjustable shaft is actually extremely rare in dildos. It’s a more common feature in rabbit vibrators. So, I’m really stoked how customizable this beginner dildo is. Our tester, Mike, tested out the Limba Flex M with his wife. According to them, once posed in the right position, it held its shape pretty well during use.
“What I appreciate most is how modular this toy is. Depending on what my partner is in the mood for, we can easily bend and shape it to accommodate her desires. This adaptability is a significant advantage, as it allows us to explore various angles and positions to find what suits her best.”
The modest girth and tapered tip also make this a great fit for anyone just looking to dip their toes into the world of flexible beginner dildos. The taper is definitely a pro for complete beginners, those who generally struggle with insertable toys, or for more comfortable anal play. However, if you enjoy deep g-spot massage like me, I’d opt for something with a more bulbous tip.
Most Girthy Fun Factory Magnum
- Firm silicone dildo with a smooth, semi-realistic design
- Pronounced tip is great for g-spot and a-spot stimulation
- Powerful suction cup base.
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ The Magnum is the easiest dildo to clean
- ✅ The suction base adds extra ways to play
- ✅ You can use the Magnum in a harness
Cons
- ❌ Lint gets stuck to the dildo really easily
- ❌ There's no storage bag included
Why I Chose It
Alright, you may not think this is the most beginner-friendly dildo. I agree. It’s not my first choice for anyone who has zero experience with penetration. However, for someone who enjoys penetration during partnered sex or fingering, I do think Magnum would be a good option. It’s for those who know that they like deep penetration and g-spot massage, and are looking for their first every dildo to use solo (or to share with a partner).
What I like the most about Magnum is that it’s a dildo for beginners that you can grow with. It’s still accessible for beginners but satisfying to use for more experienced users because of the firm silicone. It’s a dildo that will keep you pleased as you expand your sexual horizons! The tip is great for targeted g-spot, a-spot, and p-spot massage. It’s also anal safe and ideal for using with a strap-on harness. Our tester, Natasha, found a perfect match in this dildo:
“The design is so simple yet perfect. The slight curve hits my g-spot beautifully during use. It’s the best amount of flexible, not too firm that it’s uncomfortable but firm enough that you can feel it filling you up”
I have personally tested a silicone dildo from Fun Factory (Fun Factory The Boss) and the suction cup base is by far the most powerful suction cup I’ve ever used. The Fun Factory Magnum shares this feature. Once stuck on a flat surface, that baby isn’t going anywhere! So, remember to release the seal before you yank on it (you might drag the whole chair or dresser with you!).

If You’re Looking For…
- The smallest dildo – The Tantus Charmer is 1.25 inches in diameter at its widest point. The Fun Factory Limba Flex M has a diameter of 1.26 inches. These two are the best options for those wo need a slim shaft.
- The best beginner-friendly dildo for g-spot stimulation – The Lovehoney Slimline G-Spot Sensual Glass Dildo is great for firm stimulation while the Fun Factory Limba Flex M offers a softer touch but more customizable angles.
- The most tapered dildo – The Fun Factory Limba Flex M offers the most tapered tip and easy insertion.
- The most flexible dildo – The Blush Neo Elite 7.5″ Dual Density Dildo and the Lovehoney Curved Suction Cup Dildo are both made of squishy and flexible silicone which makes them feel a lot more natural during penetration.
What Size is Best for a Complete Beginner?
If you are looking for your very first insertable toy, and don’t have much experience with penetrative sex or masturbation, you’ll definitely want to start out small.
If you’re planning on using your dildo vaginally then I’d recommend starting with a dildo between 4 to 5.1 inches in length, with a girth of 1.5 inches or less.
For anal use I’d shoot for 3 to 5 inches in length with a maximum girth of 1.5 (although I’d suggest closer to 1 inch in most cases!).

From Smallest to Largest
Here are some other beginner dildos I simply couldn’t resist including in this review. I’ve listed them from smallest to largest in terms of girth in diameter.
0.95" - Lovehoney Slimline Silicone Suction Cup Dildo
Ideal for absolute penetration beginners, this slim silicone suction cup dildo provides a soft and smooth penetration experience with a slight curve for some g-spot massage. This is also a great anal toy!
1.1" - Le Wand Bow Steel Dildo
Just a tad girthier than the previous product, the Le Wand Bow Steel Dildo is the perfect tier up dildo. The small end is about 1.1″ in diameter where the bigger, ridged end is 1.3″. Ideal for firm g-spot stimulation, anal play, and temperature play as well!
1.6" - Vixen Vixskin Mustang
The Vixen Vixskin Mustang is great for anyone looking to try out something slightly large. Available in this beautiful multicolored design and made of super lifelike dual-density Vixskin silicone for a realistic and comfortable feel.
1.75" - Maia Kendall Dildo
Perfect for anyone looking for a girthy dildo that still feels soft and smooth. The Maia Kendall dildo is super versatile with its suction cup base and delivers great varied stimulating with its many ridges and pronounced “head”.
How to Choose a Dildo for Beginners
You might not be 100% sure what to consider when trying to select your first dildo.
Here are a few things to think about while comparing your options!
- Size – If you’ve never used a dildo before then you’ll probably want to start off with something smaller. However, if you already own a dildo (or are having penetrative sex with a partner and used to the sensation) then a standard, six-inch dildo is always a good option!
- Material – Non-porous materials like silicone, metal, or glass are the safest options for body-safe dildos. Toys without internal electronics can be sterilized easily simply by dropping them into a pot of boiling water! Porous materials (such as TPE, PVC, or jelly) can’t be sterilized; they can only be cleaned. You’ll want to make sure to completely clean porous toys in-between uses, as these materials can harbor bacteria.
- Shape – You’ll be able to choose between straight and curved dildos. Curved models are better at g-spot targeting (they’re also called g-spot dildos), whereas straight dildos are best for training up to larger toys, big dildos (or large body parts).
- Design – There are plenty of designs to choose from! There are realistic dildos for lifelike pleasure, non-phallic dildos for anyone who does not want a realistic look or feel. There are also colorful dildos and even rainbow dildos for a fun splash of color. You’ll have plenty of designs to choose from!
- Hard vs. Soft – Hard dildos work better during penetration since they can be easily angled. However, soft dildos feel more realistic to the touch. Dual-density dildos offer both advantages, being firm enough to be easily inserted but soft enough to feel realistic.
- Use – For vaginal use, any body-safe dildo will do. However, if you’re planning on using your new dildo as an anal dildo then having a flared base (or a dildo with a handle) is a must. This will prevent the dildo from slipping inside of you, making it very difficult to retrieve!
- Features – Even with beginner dildos, you might be able to get a few extra features for your toy! Suction cup dildos, harnesses for pegging dildos, and vibrating dildos are all features you can consider.
Best Types of Dildos for Beginners
Not sure where to start?
Here’s a rundown of the best types of dildos for beginners!
Realistic
This is the best type of dildo for those looking to simulate the real experience. A high-quality, well-lubed toy can feel just like the real thing!
While realistic dildos are often made of PVC or other plastics, you’re best sticking with a silicone toy, as these are far more body safe and will last much longer.
Non-Realistic
If the veiny shafts of realistic dildos turn you off, non-phallic dildos are right for you.
Not confined to realism, this kind of dildo can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
This is the type to go for if you’re looking for an ultra-smooth or non-realistic texture (ribbed, beaded, etc).
Anal
Technically, any dildo can be used anally.
But many dildos are designed with anal in mind – these often will be a little shorter, more tapered, and have a wide, flared base to ensure safe extraction.
If you’re eyeing up a dildo for anal, these qualities will ensure the most pleasurable experience.
Double-Ended
Double-ended dildos are great for beginners because you get to experience two different sensations.
There are often differences in texture and size so beginners can explore the penetrative pleasure at their own whim.
Choosing Between a Hard or Soft Dildo as Your Starter
It’s all about your comfort level, but if you’re having trouble making up your mind, here’s a few tips!
Hard
Hard doesn’t have to mean rough! If you’re looking at hard toys, you’re likely looking at a non-realistic, and/or smaller toy (not always!).
This is because larger, hard toys with lots of detail DO end up being quite rough. Hard dildos are often easier to clean and harbour fewer harmful bacteria.
Soft
On the other hand, soft dildos hit just the spot if you’re after something realistic in aesthetic and texture.
When you’re shopping for soft toys, make sure the material you’re looking at is body safe – many cheaper, soft toys will not be.
