This candle is perfect if you are looking for a luxurious treat! It’s a little pricy but you do get a great quality massage candle that melts into a beautiful oil. Unlike many massage candles that have overwhelmingly sweet aromas, this candle has smokey, spicy, and earthy undertones. The glass container has a lovely minimal design that would look beautiful left out on your bedside table. Pair this with the Dame Arc g-spot vibrator for some indulgent solo play or the Dame Eva for a pleasurable partner session!
Lovehoney Oh! Vanilla Massage Candle
Enjoy the delicious scent of vanilla with this massage candle from Lovehoney. Not only does the scent sooth in the moment, but the combination of 6 hydrating essential oils will continue to sooth your skin after the massage is over.
This is a great option if you are on a budget or just want to try a massage candle. It is pretty small so will only last a couple of sessions, though. It contains a good mix of oils that are great for your skin but they are quite thick so don’t spread far. Some users have found that the candle burns unevenly. It’s important to let it melt evenly all the way across on the first burn but you can always heat it slightly by placing the candle in a bowl of hot water until the wax melts and then let it set again.
Edible Massage Oil Candle
Tease your partner with your hands and your tongue with this edible massage candle! Drip the sweet tasting oil onto their skin and slowly lick it off to drive them wild! Choose between strawberry, cherry, watermelon, pineapple, mango, grape, banana, vanilla, or peppermint or get a selection and enjoy a fruit salad!
These candles are great for exploring erotic massage and it’s great that there’s a range of scents to choose from. While it’s nice that they are edible, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally getting some in your mouth, they aren’t the most tasty, as you might expect from a candle! I’m also not a huge fan of the design, especially the images on the tin.
Jelique Mood Candles - Soy Massage Candle with Pheromones
This cute candle from Jelique is made with intensely moisturizing coconut oil, soy, shea butter, jojoba seed oil, aloe, and apricot seed oils. There are six fruity fragrances to choose from — Berry Yummy, Ravenous Raspberry, Vanilla Sugar, Black Cherry, Passionfruit, or Strawberries and Champagne. As well as all the relaxing qualities, this candle contains pheromones that are said to help get you in the mood!
I’m very skeptical about the pheromone claims made by this candle but putting that aside, it’s still a great candle for giving yourself or a partner a delightful massage. There are six different scents to choose from, but they are all sweet and fruity. The candle has a nice design and would make a lovely gift.
Earthly Body Trio 3-in-1 Mini Massage Candles
Enjoy a trio of scents with this lovely little set from Earthly Body. The candles contains a hydrating blend of Soybean Oil, Coconut Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Apricot Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, and Vitamin E to give your skin a luxurious treatment while you enjoy the massage. You also get three different scents to enjoy — one sweet and floral, one fresh citrus, and one exotic and fruity.
This little set comes in a cute little gift bag and would make a lovely present. It’s also nice to have three different scents to choose from. They have a great list of nourishing ingredients and I like that they are fragranced with phthalate-free essential oils. The only downside is that they are pretty small. Also just because something is edible, it doesn’t mean it will taste good!
Lovehoney Apothecary Arouse Scent Massage Candle 5.6oz
Arouse your lover with this sensually scented massage candle from Lovehoney’s Apothecary range. As the candle burns, you can enjoy the scents of fresh lemon, floral rose and jasmine, and sweet vanilla and amber. The spout and handle make it easy to pour the warm oil over your lover’s body.
I love the jug design of this candle — it makes it much easier to pour the oil in smooth stream and lowers the risk of burning your fingers! It has a lovely blend of scents but the smell can be a little strong so not the best if you are sensitive to smell. When melted, the candle’s massage oil is a little thick and doesn’t absorb as well as others, which is probably down to the fact that it only contains soybean oil and no others. This also means that it’s not the most skin nourishing option.

How to use massage candles
Massage candles make for an incredibly sexy and sensual massage either as the main event or as foreplay. They don’t get as hot as regular candles but it’s still important to be careful when using them. Here are some simple instructions for a safe and sexy massage sesh! If you want more in-depth instructions, we got a whole post on how to give an amazing sexy massage!
Prepare your space
Use a towel or blanket you don’t mind getting oil on to protect whichever surface you are using. Heat the space so you won’t get cold during the massage.
Melt the candle
You will need to light the candle and leave it for 15-20 minutes to melt. You want to make sure the oil has melted evenly across the surface and created a good pool of wax.
Blow out the flame
It’s important to blow out the flame before you pour the oil so you don’t burn your hands. This will also prevent burn marks on your candle.
Drizzle onto your partner's body
Drizzle the oil onto your partner’s body and massage it in. You can start with the back then move onto the butt and legs before moving onto the front of their body. Avoid pouring the wax onto the head, face or genitals.
Switch to lube
If you plan on giving your partner a happy ending, be sure to wipe the oil off your hands and switch to lube, especially if you are massaging a vulva owner.
How to clean up a massage candle
Allow your massage candle to cool completely and let the remaining oil harden. You can then use a damp cloth to wipe any oil from the outside of the container.
Soft plastic, hard plastic, jelly, rubber, Cyberskin are all porous materials, meaning that small particles and bacteria can penetrate the surface. This makes it impossible to completely clean these types of materials.
Therefore, it is recommended that you use a condom with these types of toys, especially if you are sharing them. Clean these toys with mild soapy water and dry gently with a towel. These materials are more easily damaged, so be sure to be gentle and make sure your toys are completely dry before storing.
Silicone, glass, stainless steel and some hard plastics can all be washed using a mild soap (like you would use on your body) and warm water. Just be careful if your toy contains electrical parts.
Silicone and stainless steel toys without any electrical parts can also be boiled for sterilisation.
If your toys contain electrical components, be extra careful when cleaning them and always check the instructions provided with the toy. You can use a gentle cloth and soap to wipe or sex toy cleaner or cleaning wipe to down your toy, making sure that no water comes into contact with the electrical parts.
What is a massage candle
Massage candles are made from wax with a low melting point. When you leave the candle to burn the wax melts into a pool of warm oil that can be dripped or drizzled onto your skin. The warm oil together with the soothing scents takes a relaxing, sensual massage to the next level! Many are also full of hydrating oils that will leave your skin feeling soft and supple.
