We-Vibe Tango X Review

Personal Experience

I’m not one to be easily impressed by a sex toy. I’ve tried out quite a few, and even had pretty high hopes for some, but I always find myself wishing there was more of this, or less of that. But that was before I met the We-Vibe Tango X. I make no secret of my love for bullet vibrators in general, but this one took what I thought I knew and knocked it out of the park.

Design

Excuse me while I gush about everything right with the We-Vibe Tango X's design. The lipstick-style tip works miracles! It allows for incredibly precise stimulation on the point, while the flat side of the tip is great for broader massaging. I also didn't think that I'd be such a fan of the hard ABS plastic, but I'm a convert. It feels so smooth, never drags on the skin (even when you're not using lube), and allows you to get really firm with your stimulation, though it does light strokes just as well. Perhaps the most obvious upgrade from the original We-Vibe Tango is the silicone handle – it's easy to grip and feels secure in my hand, and the slight bulbed shape makes for a more natural grip, too.

Ease of Use

I'm a huge bullet vibrator evangelist (you only have to read my blog post to see). They're accessible, versatile and unobtrusive, and the We-Vibe Tango X is a shining example of the genre. It has three buttons: plus and minus (which are raised), and a middle button to cycle through the vibration patterns, which I rarely touched (no shade, I'm just not patterns person). Press the + to turn it on, and then keep pressing or hold it to increase the speed. Do the same to the - to decrease it, or keep holding it to turn it off. It's extremely simple. Holding the Tango X is easy, and it can be used wherever you feel the craving for vibrations.

Quality

The Tango X retains We-Vibe's signature of quality materials and manufacturing. There's no rattling of electrical parts inside and no gaps where the materials meet. It's all 100% body safe, with no porous materials, and made to last.

Price

While the price of the We-Vibe Tango X may be enough to scare away from sex toy newbies, I would say that it's very reasonably-priced for what you get. I've seen a lot of vibrators in my time, and like to think that I have a pretty good eye for sex toys that can live up to their price tag. While you may well find a bullet vibe out there for cheaper, the sheer power and rumbles that the Tango X can generate are out of this world, and well worth a small investment. Plus, it comes packaged with a satin-y storage bag and a sachet of high-quality, water-based lube from Pjur.

Performance

The We-Vibe Tango X performs. The super rumbly vibrations were a revolution for me who's been used to my old standard, buzzy bullet for many years, and felt so, so good. I was able to really put some pressure on without feeling overwhelmed, and then backing off a little and just enjoying some gentle rumbles for a while to really prolong the experience, all without getting numb. And it's so quiet, even on the highest settings! The battery is also impressive – two hours (at least) for such strong vibrations from such a small toy is uncommon, and very welcome. It also has a handy low battery alert, though it's not always noticeable when you're in the middle of a session.

Packaging

We-Vibe's packaging is always a nice treat to open. It's glossy, sturdy and colorful, which really makes you feel like you're opening high quality product. It features a lifesize glossy Tango X on the front, and an illustration on the back of how it's meant to be used. Pretty, but perhaps not the most discreet. If you're concerned about people seeing what kinds of things you're stashing in your nightstand, I would recommend throwing it away and just storing your bullet in the accompanying drawstring bag, though it does seem like a shame.

Materials and care

The We-Vibe Tango X is made from silicone and ABS plastic, both high-quality, non-porous, body-safe materials. The silicone feels soft yet grippy, while the hard plastic is smooth and rounded. It's completely waterproof, which is great for both using it in the shower/bath as well as easy cleaning. As they say in the quickstart guide included in the box, the Tango X can be cleaned using either mild soap and water or purpose-made toy cleaner. There's also no noticeable gap where the silicone and plastic meet, so there's no need to try and get a nail in there to clean out any nasty stuff.

Special feature

The We-Vibe Tango X’s sheer rumbly power is its true special feature. These kinds of vibrations are simply not found in your everyday, run-of-the-mill bullet vibrator – they’re more like what you would expect in a big, and much more expensive sex toy like a wand massager or a premium rabbit vibrator. The fact that We-Vibe managed to produce a tiny, lightweight bullet vibe that’s capable of churning out so much intensity is impressive.
